Airdrie at home this weekend so Shire away to Celtic B on the Friday night.  This frees me up all day on Saturday before Scotland v Ireland at 8pm.

So I'm tempted to go to Falkirk v Hamilton.  It's probably a 2 way tie between Falkirk and Hamilton to win League 1.  However it's still early days so whoever wins gets a psychological advantage but it hardly hands them the title as it's only October.

Having said all that I think Falkirk v Hamilton will be the game of the weekend in Scotland.

Agree it's much more psychological than anything else.

Losing to the team you're neck-and-neck with and the perceived pressure that will bring is the real outcome of this Saturday.

For the losers it's then knowing that another slip-up could be catastrophic based on the current form of both teams is what is making this game so important at this early stage.

Got to be honest here I hadn’t realised that we had a “Give Us The League Now Brigade”.

I would say the overwhelming view is that we are playing great stuff but it is clearly going to be a two horse race for the title.

Seeing this said about us from the Hamilton fans online.

They are under the impression they are the "sleeper" team who will quietly go about their business and see us off in the head-to-heads.

We  must quell that notion a week-on-Saturday after we've hopefully seen off Montrose this weekend coming.

Slightly off subject, but reading that Arbroath have been picking up some good form, any word on our RB who signed ?

What have Arbroath got to do with our new right back?

Can only assume what was meant - and apologies if it wasn't - was Montrose not Arbroath and the ex-player Williamson not Bisland.

Only judging from BBC line-ups but appears to be a frequent starter and finisher suggesting his injury woes are over 😮

£5 to park and then canny move the car for 30mins after the game due to folk not returning to there cars straight after the Game... Last time a park in that shambles of a so called car park...

Glad didn't have a emergency to get away for...

    Shambles...

... And your team were a shambles ... And you lost ... Should have brought the tractor ... Oh well...

Bit a meh performance from us today, missed Agyeman presence and power up top but still going home happy with that late goal.

Limited ourselves tbh in that we persisted with lumping balls into the box instead of trying to turn Ambrose on the edge of theirs.

Finally made a break through by going centrally and taking a gamble. Tough watch but don't care.

QotS will feel they should've taken something from the game but they need to sack their fitness coach!

Hope nothing too serious for McGuffie.

... Thing is, in May, they signed a contract with the club agreeing to give the club all subscriptions as donations, and then kept it secret until August. FSS chose to deny the fans the voice they had promised would be at the core of being a member...

Not sure it was necessarily a secret as it was published to the FSS website in May.

Where I would agree with you is that this was agreed without input from the members as to what the options were and put to their membership that this was what they would advise the FSS cohort should agree to based on what has since transpired.

Ballot the membership, but I’d hazard a guess that given the option our support would largely support additional funds targeting increased investment in academy rebuild. I’ve not met many fans who don’t lament the loss of this once proud facet of the club. If we keep increasing membership many investment opportunities could be possible.

The only thing is with that agreement in place, it wouldn’t really matter what members voted for as it would  ultimately be up to the club to decide how it is spent.

The other issue with the agreement is that it has no protection that future monies will be converted to shares.

For an example, in 1 years time the FSS should have provided the club with at least another £115k of donations. If the Rawlins then decide they would like to up their 16% shareholding back to 25% then the club could issue new shares for the Rawlins to pay £285k(at 40p/share) to regain a blocking vote. That would then dilute the FSS to about 20% and require roughly £115k to buy the required shares to get it back to over 25%.

If there is no agreement in place to convert the £115k the FSS has spent back in to shares, then the FSS will have to start from scratch in raising another £115k. Meanwhile the Rawlins have 5% more shares than the FSS despite the FSS having contributed that amount.

Being honest, I do find it utterly bizarre that the FSS found itself in this position in the first place.

As I write I am still seeing members asking JS online if the FSS is now FF/BfL in all but name!

I paraphrase as I can't remember where I read that events had overtook the FSS and they achieved the main aim much quicker than expected, which is true, yet that shouldn't have stopped the committee from canvassing their members and understanding the demonstrably diverse views within and clarifying whether the agreement met those aims before it was agreed.

Sadly, votes on legends and quizzes isn't engaging the membership - That's a pat on the head.

To have no formulation of what happens next suggests there was - and still is - too much focus on bailing out the club and the messaging and perception is that rather than the being the fans voice it's the fans pocket.

I'd really like to hear some concrete views emanating from the FSS yet appreciating they won't all be enacted but certainly tangible outcomes. That there is no discernible difference between the FF and FSS to the layman should concern the committee.

Can you quote that?  I can’t see it anywhere.  Shouldn’t be true - it would dilute the value of other shareholders and would be an admin burden, admittedly.

It was at the end of the statement:

    Quote

    FAQs

Q: Will there be more shares made available?

A: There are no plans to issue more shares at this time. In the last three years the club has increased its share base from 2.4m to more than 5.2m shares. Directors have a duty to ensure that a company’s market capitalisation reflects reasonable market value and continually issuing shares doesn’t provide a sustainable operating model.

FSS’s job is to protect the club from predators and poor decision making; promote the fans’ voice in the club; and progress the club via its funding and other involvement. As such, I’d say it needs people with the energy and skills to help it grow and develop policies it wants the club to pursue.

The board needs people to run the club successfully. Folk prepared to show some vision, take tough decisions and run the business. I’d say a lot of that is interchangeable with what the FSS needs and would suggest that’s a good thing.

Agree with all of that but parts I've highlighted, I feel, need something to underpin them.

Knowing the "why" makes the how and what consequences of whatever is being pursued.

Definitely an interesting one to ponder.

I think paying people to do some of the behind the scenes stuff and allowing reps/directors time to concentrate on development of the club not the humdrum day to day stuff would be an idea

Ideally, yes, but I think the club needs to shed its toxicity before more of the right people are prepared to step forward. We’re a long way towards achieving that - fan ownership is progressing, stability and improvement on the park, competence off the park, fans less murderous and directors who aren’t seen as arrogant hee-haws or dodgy nest featherers.* We need to get away from the times where anyone involved with the club ended up leaving with the smell of torches and sound of pitchforks clattering behind them.

(*Nb definitely NOT applying that description to each of the dozens of directors who have served the club in the previous decade or two)

Not sure I agree. Being there only to represent the fans is fine when it was just one FSS rep and the rest of the BOD was made up of MSG appointees. (historical example, albeit in those days it was Bairnstrust rather than FSS).

That's no longer the case. The fans ARE the board and the FSS is almost half of it. (or 2/5 to be precise) Every single board member bar one is a fan rep and should be taking the wishes of the fanbase  into account when making decisions. Ironically, the only "independent" guy is the one who represents nobody but presumably has skills which are valued.

I can think of a few people over the years who promoted themselves as "the voice of the fans". They criticised everything but offered nothing. We don't need those type of people now. We need ones with skills who're willing to roll their sleeves up for the betterment of the club.

I have no idea what the board members do on a daily / weekly basis. Perhaps with the improvements that have been made in the running of the club, the 20+ hrs requirement could be reduced to 15 or 10. That might be a conversation worth having if it resulted in more people becoming involved.

That said you can't continually have the same people in post ad infinitum.  It's important that there is a constant change in posts to bring in new ideas and skills and to keep things fresh. I'd have thought it would be great if one rep from the patron's and one from fss changed on a semi regular basis . The issue though again is getting people with the time to do the work.

What does the club/FSS actually require in terms of skills and what manifesto - beyond majority - do the FSS want to achieve?

I'm not in the FSS (although aspire to) so apologise if this is widely known to the membership.

I think having clear goals to articulate for the term and understanding what the club needs in the short/medium term off the park would be helpful to anyone considering standing.

If it's known what priorities are from both sides it's surely easier to align the skills and commitment than an open ended, all encompassing remit.

I can point to instances of where an FSS champion has said if you don't like X advocate for Y but when has that been canvassed and made an aim?

Appreciate the rep has to act on their own and in best interest but they need some form of framework to work toward and they might not achieve it but at least try and advance a position which affects the FSS membership (and shows the benefit of being a member beyond funding a budget and to wider group).

  11. Just watched the highlights and Gary Oliver looks like he badly needs a goal.

A more confident player takes that chance at the back post or at least makes much more of an attempt.

Apart from that observation a fantastic result whatever way you look at it.

Pleased to hear Nesbitt was getting praise again 🤩

Didn’t realise at the time but what a pass from Nesbitt for the second goal

No surprise to say I've always been a big fan of Nesbitt.

Happy to take pelters for this statement but as the old adage goes: Form is temporary but class is permanent.

Joint 3rd for assists and only one behind Spencer (who's 1st) without being a regular starter.

    👏

  13. What a shambles Edinburgh are on and off the park.

First venture to Meadowbank and it really was as bad as had been described!

ECFC offered very little and we should have been home-and-hosed by a bigger margin than the final result if not for their keeper and the woodwork.

On the upside, we took the points and due to a card reader being down at the turnstile we got free entry into thee worst "stadium" in Scotland.

Not to mention we're top of the league (and they're no😊

... My biggest concern is that the bod is going to end up being the same reps for years with either noone wanting to do it or one group or another constantly appointing the same individuals. I think it's important we have fresh faces in there regularly.

I'd suggested to van damage before when the initial FSS membership drive was on that promoting what the FSS at board level do and have done could have helped with membership.

I still think that's the case amongst other things.

I've gleaned from announcements via the club what reps like Doug Moodie or John Wright have done to their credit but for the ordinary fan the headline is funding the budget, which for some, they already do through ST, strips and hospitality.

In those circumstances I agree with @Zbairn that the FSS just looks like FF.

Transfer deadline day and probably the first one in a long time where there isn't even a remote chance of us doing anything.  Normally you'd be hoping for at least one new face, I seem to recall Houston signing Joe McKee I think very late in the day. Can't see any outgoings unless it's a loan for one of the youngsters.

Not transfer news as such for us but I see there is a strong rumour Andy Irving - former loanee and lightweight - is about to sign for West Ham Utd!

    Footballs unpredictability is unsurpassed 🤯
