Was on course for a sub-45 minute 10k when I accidentally hit "stop" on my phone at 7.75k somehow. Was so annoyed I terminated the run right there - had no way of knowing the exact time I started at, I was cutting it a bit fine. Baws.

They were brilliant. Didn't think they'd return for an encore though, so I missed it

In the process of applying for the Great Scottish Run. Is it worth shelling out an extra 7 bucks for the official "quick dry" event T-shirt? Yes, I am very, very cheap.

The best bit of Scott R's post is the differing spellings of the surname. Even if Scott R is a #beast

Bought two tickets. Can't wait.

See all these chumps that post bands they're listening to, with no song/album titles or YouTube links? Don't. #undece

Addendum to "Mogwai Help" here. They've announced a performance of the Zidane score at "220 Broomielaw". I'll be going anyway, it's magic, but does anyone have any experience of the development? I say "development" rather than "venue" as all I can see on Google is information about the building itself - much as I'm desperate to go, I don't want them playing to me in a glorified meeting room. It's £29 inc booking fee - bit pricey, but well worth it. To add to the debate, CODY's my favourite.

20 over at Drumoig from the green tees - went out in 43, back in 50, for 20 over par. Sod's law - at the water covered 270-yard 10th, I put my 3-wood within 30 yards of the green and eventually settled for a 4. At the water covered 160-yard 11th, I punted my drive into the water, punted my third into the bunker, went over the green, finishing the hole with a 7. Funny old game. A great course, £25 per round is an absolute steal. Went out today and bought a Ping G15 driver - tried around 20-25 drives with it, and it handles like a dream. Every drive, no matter how bad, went beyond 200 yards, some a shade off 250 yards. Can't wait to use it in anger.

I especially like the 8th, the 200 yard "par 4" they have there. Still good fun, mind.

Going round between 20-25 over par this year - a little disappointing, but hopefully this will tumble when I get my driving sorted. Getting new irons has crippled what little feel I had for my £10 Dunlop driver! Any driver recommendations? I'm probably going to have to try before I buy, which is a shame because I'll probably miss out on online deals. I don't swing particularly quickly, so I might well end up with a high loft driver.

I have two cousins (both sisters) who are involved in a Facebook race to the bottom - they do nothing but share inane pictures, share statuses in the vain hope of winning something, and post passive-aggressive status updates, usually about the other sister. They're both parents, and both over the age of 30. Preposterous madness.

Regular 7k in 30:28 tonight, happy with that. Have a fives tournament to practice for - think I'll find a small block with a big hill on it to prepare for it.

Played three rounds this year, all either 20-21 over par, I'm reasonably happy with that so far. I got a new set of irons finally - Callaway Razr Hawks, a 4 hybrid and 5 - SW irons. Tried out a few before I bought, but those were the most comfortable to use. Can't say too much about them just yet, but compared to my old set of clubs the ball flight's something else. I can probably get more loft on the 8-iron than I could with my old sand wedge. The moment I fell in love with them was a round at Torrance House. Hit my £10 Sports Soccer driver 150 yards into the light rough (the problem with good irons is that I've lost all feel for my shite old driver, so I need a new one I reckon!). Decided to bring out my 4-hybrid, not expecting much. Ended up hitting the thing 180 yards, six feet from the hole. I missed the putt, that's another new club I need now

The get fit, stay fit thread

I just cannot kick sweets and fizzy diet drinks. I'm trying to get around this by having seeded bread (high-ish protein) and a thin spread, cheese or jam or something, but I always forget to take these into work! Any tasty, filling snack ideas which are good for the body (nd easy to make/cheap) are very much welcome. -
Grumpy old folk - the victims of THATCHER'S BRITAIN. Hopefully anyone who gets all excited and worked up by this has a massive coronary and frees up some wealth/housing stock.

Scott Tenorman is the best episode. Maybe the biggest laugh-out-loud moment for me is in the "Future Self 'n Me" episode, where the boys discover the parents are hiring actors playing drug-influenced "future selves" to discourage them from using: "I'm going to tell him that I dropped out of school and went to prison for eight years, where I got sodomized! (points) In the ass!" Mature I know, but it gets me every time.

Did 14k in 1hr 6min the other day there. Really enjoyed it, and I'm recovering from running quicker. I just wanted to complete a 10k / half marathon this year, but I now reckon I should be gunning for an aggressive time for a half marathon.

Started going out with my work's running club - feel guilty cause after a kilometre I get bored and start pulling away! Did roughly 7.7k in 33 minutes week before last, and 36 minutes last week. My runs are pretty patchy.

My pet peeve the now is folk sharing photos from clearly fake pages, usually purporting to be a smartphone manufacturer, claiming there are some mental amount of items (usually 5,000) for giveaway. Would a carefully cultivated brand like Apple have a page titled "Apple.", with a four-figure number of "likes", really give away that much stock? Jesus wept.

Reading Ronald Reng's A Life Too Short, about late German goalkeeper Robert Enke. About 3/4 of the way through it. I honestly can't recommend it highly enough. Touchingly written, a vivid look at the difficulties faced by depressives, and professional sportspeople in general - even the details of his career were an interesting enough tale on it's own. It isn't a light read, but not a crushing one. I kind of felt obliged to read it, but I've ended up really enjoying it, and I'm not dreading the ending.

It's much better, I'd say. Porno kid of trades on the fact that the characters were in Trainspotting, if you get what I mean.
