We have much better attacking options than this time last year. We need a left back, a defensive midfielder - or get one of our current crop to do that job (E.g. Balde) and probably - heresy alert - a centre back to provide some competition.

We really have to sort ourselves out defensively. Having no left footed defenders is worrying. It seems we do need a sitting defensive midfielder to be safe at the back. I actually thought Balde was very good and Slater decent but we did have alarming gaps. McKenna not effective today. Bird not getting the credit he deserves- he gave Gogic a torrid time. I like Stowe- he’s always looking for a goal and he’s really trying to do the defensive stuff, but maybe we’re a pack the midfield kind of team.

Let him dive a couple of times to upset the ref…. Then crunch him at every opportunity.

Couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo. No goals last season. No composure in front of goal - he needs to improve that.

Sticking to positives - Steele was excellent Stowe, Slater and Balde all looked good when they came on Thuran had a good second half (and a terrible penalty) Dow had a good first half Bird battled away and won a few free kicks

I’m much more confident than last season that we can score more than one goal.

I just watched the post match interviews on YouTube. Jay softly spoken but clearly ready to impress, Ali confident and pretty grounded, Stowe keen and humble, Jess seems a good lad who will fit in. All good. And Dick was surprisingly factual.

Two strikers and a midfielder is a pretty good haul from the exercise. Let’s hope they all work out. Promising.
