Walking Down the Beechwood Road mk 2
Plantar fasciitis replied to TFW's topic in West of Scotland Football League
I think Boyd is a smashing player but as a forward doesn't score enough goals for me. He definitely needs a poacher up beside him -

Andy are you a Talbot supporter? I know they signed two medda players they wanted to keep, can't speak for signings from other teams but what I do think that wage demands may have proved an issue for Talbot this season given the silly money a number of teams are throwing about this season. Maybe thar has prevented Tucker getting some signings over the line -

I'm not a Talbot supporter but admire and envy everything Tucker has done as a manager, he has won every trophy going , over and over. So I'm sorry but it is a totally unreasonable and ridiculous question to ask if he's out depth. The guy will go down in history as being one of the greatest, if not the greatest , managers at our level . The quote in my opinion is totally disrespectful. -

Really surprised at that result, that results in the first few weeks shows this is going to be the most open league ever -

But before the pyramid system highland league teams could not progress through the leagues am I right? Thd only reason they joined the seniors league at the time was due to expansion- 267 replies

Johnstone Burgh statement

Think we are splitting hairs here and missing my point, I am just using these teams as an example of what can be down with sustained investment, starting at the bottom and working way up season to season to the premier league. No reason why Johnstone can't if done right. And I queried if the fan base of the two Highland teams have expanded considerably since the times in the lower reaches ? -

They did up until they merged two Inverness teams to join the seniors -

Highland league though prior to any pyramid system and on joining the Scottish leagues quickly went up through the league with shrewd investment -

Bit of a silly quote, even the richest teams in the world still look for sponsors -

It's just shows you , buffs got rid of Strain because he wasn't everyone's cup of tea but they have been on a downward spiral ever since and Beith go from strength to strength, I bet their are plenty of committee and fan's regretting that decision now! I thought Aikten would have been a good appointment with his senior connections and background but it's been a tough gig for him, I personally hope he turns it around -

It can be done though with the right people behind it and the right bottom to top infrastructure. Inverness and Ross County are two prime examples of teams who started in Highland league but made it all way to top. I've no idea the types of regulars home support they had prior to seniors but would be interesting to know if they did increase significantly. I appreciate the argument that people don't change clubs and yes I still follow my senior team on paper but would still rather take in a junior (WOSFL) game now for value for money. The kind of interest Johnstone are generating may just encourage the younger generation to want to go along and drag their senior supporting parents with them which in turn will create a new fan base for futures to come if the clubs vision and progress comes to fruition. I don't agree with the signings or money they are paying out but no one can deny it's put Burgh on the football map again and might just be the catalyst to a whole new sustainable support -

Wasn't at game but heard Medda played a much changed team from midweek due to injuries and players missing. Was never going to be easy against a decent Beith team without the changes -
Wasn't there but heard Bankies were much better first half, Meadow better second half but picked up a couple of injuries to crucial players and sat in last 10 minutes. I did here the the Bankies pen was never a pen, hit the boys hand from a blasted shot from close range as he slid in to tackle. By all accounts though it sounds a draw was a fair result

Ffs it's only two games gone, if they are still there 6 or 7 games in then I can see why that question would be asked not now when loads of teams above with only 1 and 3 points -

I do think St Cadocs will be one of the teams to beat, they are practically the East Kilbride lowlands team so will have a big say in the league this year, it's maybe not as bad a result as you Bot fans think -
