  1. I loved that Stranraer game, the turn around in momentum as the game progressed was just superb. Also a thoroughly enjoyable evening of getting it right up Micheal Moore.
  2. That articles talks of Bayern Munich winding up their 'colt' team. It also doesn't evaluate at all whether the Dutch b teams have been successful. There's no talk of the number of qualified youth coaches in the Netherlands, the quality of those youth coaches, or of facilities in comparison to Scotland. The article certainly doesn't prove anything about the success of b teams in player development. Although it certainly suggests that the teams won't attract decent crowds.
  3. I was in a meeting with Scottish Government this morning where I jokingly said that I'd only bothered to look at one manifesto to see what we might have to implement after the election. There was pretty much a unanimous reaction that things might change in line with another manifesto. So I'm guessing that discussions have taken place and it's pretty much an open secret in parts of SG.
  4. And where are the surgeons for all of these private contractors coming from? Private contractors would largely just take trained surgeons out of the NHS, who have been trained by the public purse/the NHS at a cost of well over half a million pounds each.
  5. Is it not the case that the bill was passed unanimously, and ruled to be within the competence of the parliament by the presiding officer (under advice of the parliament lawyers? To come to the conclusion that this is SNP grievance mongering surely ignores a lot of the facts and the processes that the bill has gone through.
  6. Last night's game was really poor, one of the worst Alloa performances I've seen for a good few years. Given how poor our defending has been this season it was always likely that we'd be getting relegated. If you concede more than 2 goals a game on average then you are almost certain to lose the vast majority of your games, regardless of how well you pass the ball about in defence and midfield. As to whether Peter Grant should be allowed to continue in charge next season then (for me) it comes down to whether he is able to sort the defending out. It was absolutely clear that it wasn't just the back 5 that were the problem last night but also the way in which the midfield pressed the ball and matched runners. Personally I'm very sceptical of whether Grant is going to be able to sort the team out next season as I think his defensive signings have been very questionable - I'm pretty sure that all of our regular defenders were at the club before Grant arrived.
  7. We've got a really poor record against Ayr so I'm really not feeling confident. Going back to the 2000-01 season we've played them 51 times, only winning 12 to Ayr's 28 victories. This season we've already been beaten 4-1 and 2-0 by Ayr, which I believe were the only 2 victories they had in a run of 13 otherwise winless games.
  8. And on the game itself, an excellent result with some good goals but our defending is utterly dreadful.
  9. When we played Dunfermline a few weeks back I called it as us being on the wrong side of a few marginal calls by the referee. Yesterday was similar to me - probably each of the key decisions could have gone the other way, with the exception of the second sending off which was a stick on. On the other hand if QOS fans are putting up stills of some bog standard holding as showing a grand injustice then I think they're getting a bit carried away.
  10. Oh and our defence remains utterly dreadful. Queens look like they could score every time they attack, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if we still lose this.
  11. The challenge for the red was over the top of the ball and caught Grant with his studs. It's over of those that may get a yellow card, but if you go over the top of the ball you can't really complain if you pick up a red.
  12. I got a similar message when going through the website, but the link that was e-mailed to season ticket holders worked fine. I got straight through to highlights of the 2nd last day of the season against ICT from 2 years ago. Watching that game it struck me that we were likely to line up tomorrow with a similar defence to the one used in that game (two years on and Robertson is still having to fill in on the right hand side of defence) but the forward options were had then were superior, we've not got anyone in the team currently with the directness and unpredictability of Dario Zanatta.
  13. The best that we've played for weeks and we end up losing. Unfortunately we didn't help ourselves by defending crosses poorly and not making enough of the cruising chances that we got. It's also tough when three key marginal decisions all went Dunfermline's way.
  14. A very frustrating game yesterday. I thought that we played pretty well for large parts of the game but I never felt confident that we'd score (it took a piece of brilliance from Trouten) and I thought that Ayr looked dangerous throughout. There's a lot like about the way that we play but when you're struggling to score goals and regularly conceding then there's not much point in being easy on the eye in possession. Hopefully that's something the manager will be able to fix with a couple of late loan signings but I fear that's not going to be easy this year. There are some real issues this seadon. We seem to be regularly playing players out of position - right back in particular being an issue. Also we retained players who were unlikely to be good enough to keep us up. The scoring record of the front players that we kept from last season (Trouten excepted) was not good enough to think that they'd be a success this year. Fingers crossed we get things sorted as there is a good team somewhere in there, but at the moment we look like it's going to be a real struggle to stay up.
  15. I'm pretty short of optimism heading into this game. We're short on quality up front and unfortunately I just can't see Thomson and Buchanan being good enough forward options for this level. Having said that I had hoped that the midfield and defence might be strong enough to cover for the lack of firepower, but after the Dunfermline game I'm pretty concerned about the defence too. Obviously when Parry's back that will be a big boost, but after that it's hoping that Andy Graham is still the player he was and that the new guys are capable of stepping up. Fingers crossed I'll be doing a complete about turn after tonight's game.
  16. I'm assuming it's that when you email the club to register for the streaming service, as told to with your season ticket, you don't get any kind of response. TBH I didn't really expect anything, but I can see that an email along the lines of "Thanks for registering your season ticket for the live streaming service, we will be in touch with more details as soon as possible." would be quite sensible to let people know that their email hasn't just disappeared into the ether.
  17. Absolutely, it's not about what Lewis is doing (from what I can see that's all very good) it's about what the club are providing him to put up on the website or Twitter. This isn't about having a go at anyone, or at the club it's just commenting on an area that could be improved.
  18. I'm not disputing the hard work that goes in to the digital media side, but there is certainly more that the club could be releasing to build up a bit of hype and excitement for the upcoming season. Also there's a big difference between what the club needs to release, and what it could release to engage the support.
  19. There's no need to post any information, but there surely is a benefit to keeping fans updated and engaged with information on the club. Particularly at a time when it's been so long since fans had any actual football to engage with. Not meant as a pop at the guy who does our social media work, more a comment that the club can be a little slow in releasing information. Having someone managing social media engagement well, and having an updated website all becomes largely redundant without meaningful content to engage with.
  20. Breaking my posting sabbatical to add the attached, which gives a good idea of the value of a degree - from the Longitudinal Education Outcomes report for 2019.
  21. Well, we certainly need something to translate the magnificent success we have at age group level to the senior teams... Or instead of wrecking the lower leagues the richer teams could invest in facilities and educating our coaches so that we produce better players in the first place.
  22. Lee Connelly signs on loan from Sunderland. 20 years old, a striker, and has been playing for Sunderland U23s. Played for Scotland at youth level, so hopefully he's decent and to be honest it's good just to be getting bodies (a body) in the door.
  23. That fact-check says that: "The Audit Scotland report Ms Sturgeon was referring to did find that the number of people seen on time went up. But that is because the demand was higher - so there were more patients overall." I'm struggling to figure that out. On the assumption that we aren't in a situation where supply of appointments, treatment etc. previously outstripped demand then an increase in demand couldn't be the reason that more people were seen. There must have also been more appointments, treatments etc. made available/more efficiently allocated. Or am I just being a bit dense?
  24. A great signing. He can be a bit frustrating, often takes the wrong option, is a bit raw, and sometimes try to do everything himself; but he never stops working, has good pace, bags of skill, and will get you goals out of nothing. He was a massive part in us staying up last year.
  25. Stirling and Thomson coming on, along with the change to 4-5-1, certainly seemed to work a bit better but Hetherington's sending off stopped us from developing any real momentum.
