  1. If Roberts is mobile and reasonably good/disciplined defensively then he would fill a gap in our midfield. We have a lot of midfielders who are good on the ball but sometimes we struggle to give them the platform to play.
  2. Cammy O'Donnell also signs on. A slight surprise, I rate him but Rice seemed to have lost faith with him after the Edinburgh City collapse.
  3. Happy to see Coulson sign, he brings a bit of pace and trickery that was otherwise lacking in the team. And it's also nice to see Andy Graham signing up for another season. I can't imagine that he's going to be getting regular game time but his experience and personality are very valuable commodities in building a team.
  4. Great news that Luke Donnelly signs up for next season. If he can stay fit he'll be a big player for us. Fingers crossed for Scott Taggart being announced soon.
  5. It's good to get confirmation that Scougall is signed up for next year as well. On the Andy Graham question I'd be happy to see him sign up for next year, albeit only to be used sparingly. Regardless of whether he signs on to play again I'd certainly like to see him kept on in some capacity.
  6. Kev Cawley signs on for next season. Excellent news. So, that's the right back position sorted.
  7. I'm struggling to find the numbers but I'm fairly sure that we have far fewer UEFA qualified youth coaches per head of population than other countries. I also seem to recall (but again I can find figures) that we have far fewer indoor facilities / 3G surfaces than other countries with a similar climate. I reckon that if we improve those two things then we'll see Scotland produce better young footballers. Unfortunately it's a far more expensive endeavour than sandwiching B teams into what is a well attended, if not brilliantly functioning, pyramid. Oh, and obviously, get B teams to f**k.
  8. What a difference from last week, we cut out the calamitous mistakes at the back and played some really good stuff through midfield. Kev Cawley was superb behind the front two, and Miller and Scougall also put in very good shifts. The first touch for our opening goal from Kev was a piece of class, and he finished well too. Montrose were unbelievably open in midfield and it really played into our hands. With the success that our 3 were getting it allowed us to keep the ball down and play some really good football, instead of going for the easy long ball up to the front two. Conor Sammon ended up with two simple tap ins but your have to credit him for the work he did in closing down the keeper and following in Cawley's shot. The other highlight was the battle of the veterans between McAllister and Andy Graham, and it was one that Andy won comprehensively. For all that I've been frustrated by some of our performances this season it was really good to seal a play off spot with such a good win.
  9. Really poor today. Falkirk started brightly and then when we let in a cheap goal we never really got going, while Falkirk got a big lift. Hogarth entirely to blame for the first, he didn't look great for the second (he seemed to get a good hand to the door, did should have kept it out) and the defending for the last two was pretty poor with two uncontested headers. Although Falkirk were so far ahead in the game they were well worth the win and the scoreline. Whenever I see us line up with Sammon and MacIver up front together my heart sinks a little, as I know that we're going to be serving up 90 minutes of hoofball to two strikers who will fail to hold it up. Although I do recognise that our options are very limited. We've now got 2 games to get 1 point (although we may not even need that to limp into the play-offs) but I really can't see any of the other three teams in the play-offs bring too worried by the prospect off playing us.
  10. I don't think it's too outlandish to assume that none of their office space had appropriate parking for a huge motorhome. Although that doesn't get away from the question of why the f**k they bought the thing in the first place.
  11. Surely it should either be described as SNP v Tory (which I suspect Labour would love) or Holyrood v Westminster. That it isn't seems to suggest a, possibly, unconscious bias. By using the name of the institution only on one side of the argument you are providing that side with a veneer of authority not granted to the other.
  12. A strange game and a draw would probably have been a fair result but, given the way that the other games between us have gone this season, QoS were probably due that. We started really well but didn't manage to create a clear cut chance, although we had a couple of close things. Then Hogarth gifted Queens a goal and the game changed. We still dominated the ball but we were so open that's Queens looked like they'd score from every ball up the park. Queens did get a second and it looked like there was another big mistake from us, this time Stanger miskicking when attempting to clear. Second half was largely defence against attack and I thought that Queens defended pretty well for the most part. Luke Donnelly was superb for us but when he drops deep we really need someone to run in behind, or take up the space he leaves, and stretch the game a bit. Taggart scored a good goal, although I have to confess when others were exhorting him to shoot I said that he'd never score from there. We continued to press and I thought that when Cammy O'Donnell came on the quality of our delivery improved, with the crosses looking more purposeful and less floated. We would have grabbed a point at the end but for a couple of excellent saves from Dabrowski. The run in is now going to be very interesting and given their form I imagine that Queens must fancy pipping us for the final play off spot.
  13. That was about as comfortable as I've seen us all season. I think that Hogarth had one save to make all game. I'm assuming that both Church and Strachan were injured, as we played with Taggart at left back in what was pretty much a 442, albeit there was a fair amount of rotation and Luke Donnelly dropped deep throughout. A good finish from LD for the first after we won the ball back in midfield, and a thoroughly enjoyable f**k up from Mutch to let Coulson score the second. Coulson also had a couple of other good chances and LD had one which he hit wide when off balance. It was also good to see Kev Cawley get some game time in midfield, even if he looked a little rusty at points. That's us up on the same points at Edinburgh, and it was satisfying to get both a good result and decent performance.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two additional hustings are added, the Lothians one is already fully subscribed. I wouldn't be surprised if others are similar.
  15. It's 1 member 1 vote, with a single transferable vote system. MPs and MSPs get 1 vote, same as all other members.
  16. As far as I'm aware the FM vote isn't for or against. Each nomination is voted on and the one with majority support gets elected as FM (abstentions are excluded). Unless greens, labour, lib dems, and tories all vote together for an alternative candidate then the SNP leader will be FM.
  17. A good game last night (from what I saw on the stream, I missed bits here and there) with a draw probably a fair result. We did well for the first 70 minutes but I still have concerns about our play in the final third, where we seem to lack a little quality in creating clear cut chances. Fingers crossed that should improve when we get Kev Cawley and LD back in the team. Defensively we're beginning to look a bit stronger, and if we can keep a bit of consistency with Doyle, Durnan, Taggart, Stanger, and Church/Strachan then hopefully we'll continue to improve there. I thought that for Falkirk McGlynn almost got his tactics spot on. He presumably knew that Scougall was unlikely to last much beyond the hour mark, and also that part time teams inevitably tire quicker in midweek games. He would have been thinking that by bringing on Morrison and Kennedy for the last quarter of the game Falkirk would be able to pin us back and get a goal in that closing period. It very nearly worked. Fingers crossed that having a free week will help us for the next game in Falkirk and we can get the injured players close to fitness and Scougall closer to being able to play 90 minutes.
  18. I'm not able to make it tonight so this is good news. I should be able to catch at least some of the game now.
  19. A deserved 3 points on Saturday, albeit not a game without frustrations. On the positives the defence looked a lot better with Durnan back in and Taggart moved to right wing back. Also I thought that Quinn Coulson had a good debut and his directness and pace added another dimension to the team. It was also good to see Sammon getting back on the scoresheet, with a nice finish. I still think that the team looks a bit disjointed and I feel that we need a bit more sharpness and movement when passing the ball about. I also think that Sammon and MacIver are struggling to form a partnership, and I think that we'd benefit from playing only one of those two and pairing them with a nippier striker to run in behind (although I acknowledge we're very short of options at the moment). The real frustration, however, was the extent to which we dropped back (or were pushed back) in the final 20 minutes. We got away with it on Saturday because Peterhead aren't very good, I'm not sure that would be the case against the better teams in the league. Final point was that I was a bit surprised that Cammy O'Donnell wasn't brought on when adding some legs would have helped massively in the closing stages.
  20. TBF that was some league 2 of the teams are now in the premiership, 2 in the championship, and three are no longer in the SPFL. That Pat MacAuley team was fucking dreadful, but we also appointed Tom Hendrie that season ushering in one of my favourite Alloa teams and times following the Wasps.
  21. I'm not someone who has been shouting for Rice's head but I'm really unimpressed with his interview today. He piles the blame on the players without acknowledging any issues with the way that he sets the team up.
  22. Really, really poor today. That's about as bad a performance as I've seen from us and we really couldn't have complained if Airdrie had scored a good few more. We couldn't cope with Airdrie's movement, but when we are exposed that often then there's clearly an issue with the way that we've set up. Last week we lost two poorly defended goals to crosses and again we were exposed a good few times down the flanks and were then unable to defend the cross. I can't blame Church as he's been getting played out of position (as were Taggart and King) but we need to bring either Andy Graham or Durnan into the centre of defence. I also think that we've got to look at our front three. Unless MacIver and Sammon are able to bully the centre halves then we have very little threat up front. We need to get a different type of striker in to give us a plan B.
  23. I'm not there today so wondering what shape we're playing. Is it Stanger and Taggart in the centre of defence with Church on the left and Strachan on the right? Or 3 at the back with one of either Church or Strachan playing in the centre of defence with the other as left wing back and Cawley on the right?
  24. I was trying not to jump straight to the conclusion that's Jedi was referring to the NHS Chief Exec discussions, as I'm sure he's well aware of the difference between that discussion and SNP policy.
