  1. Hippo's not one of those players who dives without contact, for me anyway, although he goes down very easily when the contact is there. Dunfermline fans were raging at him (including some racism) when they thought he dived against them last season only for the still shots to show that there was definite contact as their keeper tried to get to the ball. It looked like a dive at the time but when have you ever seen someone dive by doing a somersault? His decision making is generally poor though, often trying to beat a man (sometimes after having already beaten him 2 seconds earlier), rather than passing or hitting it to safety. He often gets frustrated if someone beats him too and is partial to a wee booking by pulling the opponent back as a result. That must have happened 5 or 6 times with us. With the squad you have though and assuming that you're not looking to depend on him and are happy to give him a 20 minute cameo, you'll love him.
  2. Who would have thought that it would have ended like this after seeing him destroy Forfar in the LC? At that point most would be thinking that he, Austin & Loy would have starred this season. Just goes to show eh...
  3. Can maybe see him going on loan to QOS given that they had him before and I think rated him and as Andy Stirling has rejoined Dumbarton so they have a vacancy for a right winger.
  4. Fair enough then; you don't think he's as comfortable on his left as his right. Cool. Edited to say that I don't think he's got the pace to play WB.
  5. You've lost me then because I thought that was exactly what you were suggesting, albeit with a new CH at LB rather than Muirhead on the right?
  6. I would keep McKee because I think he could play a part in a successful team and as Blair presumably won't be back next season. Whilst I would like to keep Loy in the hope that it'll all come good for him I don't think we can justify the wedge that we're paying him while we wait as he is, presumably, our highest earner. Maybe a move out of his current environment, perhaps to England, would help him too?
  7. McGhee is comfortable on both sides though, in fact we were debating on Saturday whether he was actually right or left footed and still haven't come up with an answer. Therefore we currently have McGhee covering left back and Muirhead right with Watson as back up CH so the scenario that you describe would be no different from what's already in place. If you don't rate Watson though and would rather have someone else as cover then fair do's but that's not really what you're suggesting? I don't think.
  8. Don't remember Hartley playing for Albion Rovers; you thinking of Hamilton maybe?
  9. Completely agree, I started watching Falkirk in 1968 (I think) just when Cunningham was getting started and the players you mention were all fantastic. My favourite was Gibson though as you can tell from my avatar! Cunningham was a brilliant manager and had us playing some great stuff. My all-time favourite Falkirk 11 contains Donaldson, S Kennedy, McLaughlin, Markie, Gibson & Shirra despite the fact that I've had 50 years worth of players to pick from although, admittedly, there must be a decent measure of nostalgia involved in that. Great days indeed! I think you're confusing Colin Fowler with Jim though as Colin was a few years later. Jim Fowler (father of current St Mirren assistant James) was a great prospect but ended up playing only a handful of games for us before quitting the game as George Millar, who became manager after John Prentice left for the 2nd time , blocked a move to Dundee Utd resulting in Jim becoming disillusioned with it all.
  10. Don't think he's behind O'Hara, I think if he'd been fit he'd have been on the bench yesterday. Personally I'd like to keep him as we're not relying on him now and he certainly brings something different to the team. (Not necessarily good but different)
  11. These would be add-on's for making their debuts, number of 1st team games etc. (I assume)
  12. I tend to agree, I think there's a player in there and possesses the attributes that you mention. I think he lacks a bit of aggression more than anything else and isn't street wise enough which is hardly surprising for someone his age.
  13. Aye but that would cost money that we can't really afford. Was thinking that he would maybe be loaned at Liverpool's expense as part of the deal. Wouldn't imagine that anyone that would be brought in purely as cover would be much good anyway?
  14. Was hoping that we may have kept Tony on loan for the rest of the season as we're woefully short of cover for the wing backs.
  15. I concur, with the possible exception of Hughes as I remember him with longer hair. Think it is him though. Also agree with DB's assumption on Lytwin. Edited to say that; did you know that John McCormack had a twin brother who played full back for Alloa? Think his name was Kevin, IIRC?
  16. Alex Jakubiak's grandfather was John Hart an electrical engineer from Falkirk who assisted John Logie Baird with early demonstrations of his 'television transmitter'. Edited to say that there's a Hart electricians in Falkirk nowadays; wonder if it's any relation?
  17. Does anyone happen to know how many times Morton have finished above St Mirren like, forever? I know that Saints have obviously held the upper hand over the last 30 or 40 years or whatever it's been but were you a lot closer together in medieval times?
  18. That's a bit shallow mate as beauty is in the eye of the beholder...as thousands of us could see!
  19. Funnily enough I asked Big Gordon McFarlane that very question last week and Marshmallo's suggestion is exactly what his reply was. I've seen covers on different parts of the stand during games too though, usually when the away support is housed in the main stand or there's a small support in the north. He couldn't answer that one and I assumed that it was to keep the pigeon shit off.
