  1. Lawal offers something different, doesn't always work, but he certainly keeps defences guessing and he gets the crowd up for it. I'd be looking to keep him doing exactly what he's been doing, coming off the bench to punish tired defences and either put some gloss on the scoreline or get us a goal when it doesn't look like we're getting one any other way.
  2. Could we not just have told him to take a break but retain his registration? I suppose all of the options will have been explored though. I was told a few weeks ago that West Brom had offered to buy him but just assumed that would have been shite!
  3. If McGlynn plays Hogarth because of one mistake from Long (possible foul in there too), then I'm going down to the stadium on Monday to kick him in the baws!
  4. There were maybe half a dozen folk on here that were unhappy with the signing, but they're mostly the types that think we should have first dibs on 20 goal a season strikers from the leagues above. I think there were far more that were happy to give the guy a chance and that said they would judge him once we could see what he could do. So far Ross has been excellent, as have been the other new additions. From memory, I think there's only been one of the doubters that have put their hands up to admit that they were wrong about the boy and I'm not holding my breath for the others to join in either! Regarding his contribution on Saturday, he was maybe a wee bit quieter than previously, but he's not the type that goes charging around the place to try to prove himself, he just does what he does very effectively and I'm sure will go on to prove crucial to us.
  5. IMO, Lawal's biggest attribute is coming on to take the pish out of tired defences. Miller not only gives us skill but he also puts in a decent shift which I don't think Lawal's particularly suited too. Nesbitt would certainly give us the effort and application but whether he should be played centrally with Agyeman moving out I don't know? If pushed, I'd play Nesbitt wide left and leave Agyeman where he's been playing. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though!
  6. Anybody know if there's a cash gate available today? Alloa apparently don't want to take my money when trying to buy a ticket!
  7. The chances of Falkirk getting a penalty two games in a row must be almost zero!
  8. Aye, but we can only do that if Brad moves in the first place, unless we get a free loan from somewhere.
  9. I thought he was our 'poorest' performer on Tuesday, still a solid 6 out of 10 though.
  10. Seriously, I hope big Brad manages to get himself another club. His best ultimately hasn't been good enough, but he's tried it (until very recently possibly). He can't be feeling very good about things just now and it would be good for all concerned if he could get fixed up elsewhere.
  11. Aye, definitely Higgins for the Inverness horror show. I believe he has an Italian cousin that's also a goalkeeper!
  12. Don't remember that happening to Higgins, although I wouldn't be a bit surprised! It happened to Myles Hogarth though (one of our current goalie's dad) against, I think, Partick Thistle?
  13. Wasn't having a go at you specifically. Maybe an unfortunate turn of phrase?
  14. We were so 'one dimensional' that we scored three entirely different goals, so not sure where you're getting that from.
  15. As John McGlynn says, it's important not to get carried away. We've had so many false dawns in recent seasosn that it was turning into perpetual darkness! We were good last night, but we need to maintain that, focus in every game and take nothing for granted. I hate all this talk about 'routine wins' and 'standard victories' and the like. We can't afford to have the players thinking this way or we may well get some egg on our faces! If we apply ourselves properly and start (and finish) the way we started against Stirling we'll win on Saturday, but it'll take effort and application from everyone.
  16. McGlynn's managed to sign three entirely different strikers, which is a good thing for me. Allan's the perfect type to bring on if we need a goal, but not at the expense of MacIver as I think he needs him beside him. He's definitely not a one up top type. I thought we lost momentum a bit last night when the subs were made and I think McGlynn made a mistake in not keeping MacIver on with Allan. Having said that, we don't know what the situation is. Maybe MacIver had a wee niggle or McGlynn was keen to ensure that he didn't pick up an injury or whatever? Either way, it's important that the likes of Nesbitt, Oliver, Lawal and Allan get some game time.
  17. It was good to see the youngsters on the bench and Honeyman getting a few minutes. Does anybody know what's happening with Pearse Carroll though? He seems to appear on the bench one week then disappear the next. Is he carrying a recurring injury maybe? Tonight would have been the ideal opportunity to give him some game time.
