I've said it before but if you have to discount all of the 45 MPs representing the SNP, you'll almost certainly reduce the calibre of the available options. I get the logic but Ash Regan wouldn't be anywhere near this if those 45 were able to participate. Agreed. Looking at how effective the loan system can be, Brian Schwake came to Scotland from the USA as a young lad. Martindale has managed his progress really effectively through the loan system. Year 1 - Linlithgow Rose at Tier 6. Year 2 - Edinburgh City at Tier 4. Year 3 - Morton at Tier 2. By taking this approach, Livingston can very clearly assess how their player is progressing. They can see whether he reaches the limit of his ability or indeed whether he's ready for the Premiership and potentially a valuable asset down the line. They'd have had a far less informed view if they'd stuck him in a B team.
