Adam Lewis on loan from Liverpool for the season.

Casually signing Liverpool players on loan, that's not something that would have happened a couple of years ago.

Looks like he had a decent season at Plymouth last year (Ryan Hardie is there as well atm IIRC). Looks like a good signing.

Heavily stacked down our left side, Longridge, Montana, Forrest, Kabia, Prentice, and Lewis, gonna be some competition for starting places between those players. Devlin & Mullin must be looking at that and thinking thank feck i play down the right hand side.🤣

Gerrard called him one of the best he's seen and managed him at U18 level I think. He was Liverpool's U18 captain as well I'm sure. 1 senior Liverpool appearance and a handful of mens games out on loan. Seems like a bit of a coup for us as he's also been training with Liverpool's first team for a while as well.

Starting to get the feeling 352 is coming back or maybe 343? 343 would allow us a LWB and a LW at the same time and allow for the overlaps.

343 in possession 541 out of possession? Basically allows the LW to slide to LM and LWB to LB when we're trying to win the ball back

Suspect a few teams will have goes at the 5-2-3/3-4-3 this season, considering our success with it.

Be interesting to see all the different approaches/results that happens due to it. Took us months upon months to look comfortable playing it.

Think it'll help that we played 352/532 when we won the playoffs and our 1st season back up so there's guys here that are comfortable with it. I'm not sure I can see us going back to 2 strikers so 1 with 2 wingers around makes sense with the current squad makeup.

What's your thoughts on Adam Lewis btw? Seems as though we're playing him in a more attacking position than his natural LB but on the face of it it's as exciting as far as signings can get for us possibly.

Compared to full backs, and based solely on his time at Plymouth...

Guess its the ridiculous amount of chances he creates that makes him appealing to your numbers guys?

Highest xA per90 in League One last season in terms of full backs.

Yeah I can see why we want him on the wing/wing back then. He joked about playing LW most of the time when he was meant to be at LB while at Plymouth. We've solely relied on Josh Mullin's ability to get a cross in, and I imagine his xA and Creator levels will probably be similar. However we got really badly caught out just relying on him instead of having anyone on the left.

Montano/Lewis and Mullin/New Signing swinging balls in for Anderson or Hamilton sounds like a winning formula for me. Better than what we had last season anyway

Just checked and your spot on. Mullin is much betetr aerially (which is a flawed part of this system in some cases still), and worse in terms of possession play, but they're almost the same player apart from that.

Sounds really exciting then, Mullin carried us through a lot of games. Think it should see us approach games a little bit more openly now

Wonder if we might see Forrest playing off the right hand side. He has a cracking right foot so always tries to cut inside. Perhaps driving down the right and getting crosses in will suit him and give Mullin a bit of competition

Yeah I'd been thinking that too but the calls of Robert/Burke had made me think otherwise. Maybe in behind the strikers too?

I think the Robert/Burke rumours are nonsense....Burke could maybe do a job but doubt he'd have the energy to fit into the team ahead of Mullin/Forrest/Sibbald. The Airdrie fans don't seem overly fussed about potentially losing Robert and all the teams that have lost interest speaks volumes for me. Can't see many more signings other than maybe a CB coming in now.

I can imagine a few more loans may rock up, hopefully one or two more from Liverpool, would do me. If there was ever a team to cosy up to and get comfy with I'd take Liverpool any day. They're a side happy with bleeding through youths in recent seasons so a high level required in their academy levels.

Yep DM said he was looking to bring in another 3 or 4 players in his interview after signing Tom Parkes. So still another 2 or 3 to go.
