Isn't McCann the same one who also played for us for a short stint? Kevin McCann? Don't think he got many games mind you. We lost three and drew one that he played in.

In fairness, McNeil was before rather than after, but as far as the rest are concerned, Livi were pretty much a mid table First Division team, we signed loads of their players and, surprisingly enough, became a mid table First Division team. Did Martin Scott not join us from Livingston as well? Edited June 12, 2020 by Specky Ginger
DanElderRRFC
A Craig Dargo goal in injury time gave Rovers the win against Stranraer, a result which confirmed the away side's relegation.Derek Holmes headed in a last minute winner for Raith Rovers at Firhill, securing the club's survival in the First Division.
Scottydog
A dreadful season salvaged only by the fact we avoided relegation. One of my abiding memories of that season is the game against Clydebank at Boghead where Derek Holmes was kept well under the cosh for 90% of the game by 38 year old ex-hibee Joe McLaughlin, despite his height and build Holmes won nothing in the air all game. He was eventually replaced by Dargo in the last quarter and under the 1st high ball up the park Craig beat McLaughlin to a header, you could literally see JMcL looking at Dargo and thinking "where have you appeared from?" That Hamilton game at Firhill summed up Derek Holmes to a T, he only managed a decent header if he had both feet planted and was un-challenged, you generally couldn't get a copy of the Sporting Post under him when he was going for a header.

If it wasn't for Holmes we'd have probably been relegated. He scored a goal every two games for us.

Yoss
I remember my dad and I musing, only half in jest, on whether or not Holmes actually understood the offside law. That and his grabbing the badge after that goal at Firhill are about all I remember.
Wardy
Remember that Hamilton game vividly because driving to the game a car was coming towards us on the same side of the road, dad had to put the brakes on quite swiftly only for a truck with bull bars to go into the back of us. Luckily we weren’t hurt and Holmes winner was most welcome.

He moved under freedom of contract due to a clause that if Raith weren't promoted, he was free to leave. You would have been due a training compensation fee that was buttons, didn't hear anything back from the tribunal.

I heard you owed us cash for our cup humiliation in January so we called it quits. So you didn't get a penny when he moved to us. Beachbum
Nisbet signed a contract tying him to Rovers until May 2020. Unfortunately for us there was an escape clause that would be triggered if we didn't get promoted last year. http://www.raithrovers.net/37307/new-deal-for-kevin-nisbet.htm Edited June 13, 2020 by Beachbum

DanElderRRFC
On the opening day of the 99/00 season, John McVeigh’s Raith earned a point at Almondvale thanks to a Paul Tosh header.Raith Rovers gave a lesson on how not to defend as St. Mirren scored six at Stark’s Park.Despite being two goals down with just 15 minutes left, Raith forced extra time in this League Cup 2nd round tie with Motherwell before the Premier League side eventually won on penalties.
