The New Raith Rovers Thread

Obviously, the board are reading comments on here and fantalk and keep changing their mind. . . .

This. I thin they are waiting on the phone vote results coming in. The way they dealt with Murray and mcgurn means they'd rather be popular than make the correct decision. Naismith please when you read this

Why do we even need a manager? Why doesn't Eric sit in the dugout on matchdays with his laptop and let the fans pick the squad, decide tactics, formations etc. .

Tbh, im not happy with the board pandering to our every whim either...but Naismith would have been an utterly daft appointment.

This.

Not one realistic name would have gotten everybody onside but I don't think anybody was on side for naysmith.

Maybe we should start raving about certain signing targets? And the board will surely go for them?

It's a difficult balance to strike, but if it prevents hiring a manger who has taken a team he took over into a worse position then I'll take that one as a victory.

Of course, McKinnon might not end up going a good job if we appoint him. Objectively, however, he is a much better candidate than Naysmith.

Now that McKinnon has pretty much been confirmed, I now feel comfortable saying that Gary Naysmith had all but signed the paper early last week. He attended a board meeting were he was told that the job was pretty much his, but the board changed their mind at the last minute due to the fan reaction.

Really poor if that's true.

Young does seem the angry populist type. Murray's removal was a business decision as much, if not more than a footballing one I think. The speed at which the board moved to re-sign McGurn in the wake of that reeks a bit of bowing to fan pressure.

On the other hand, many will say that both were good decisions. I certainly think that Naysmith is a bullet dodged, I am concerned that he got as far as he did through the process in the first place.

So Allan, what was your thought on the Cowdenbeath game?

"Hmmmmmm"

He would. No way he was leaving Everton. Naysmith could possibly have done a job for us.

That's the kind of blue sky thinking this club needs. I'm glad I voted for you and saddened you were not elected.

Boo! Get Adams.

Surely would have been better than a guy who has done nothing off note and finished in a worse position than a team managed by Dick Campbell, but what do I know he may end up being a cracking manager for us.

So could Naysmith. There always seems a certain amount of luck involved.

Hopefully McKinnon will do the business.

Surprised that Raith have replaced a cup winning specialist with a guy whose won heehaw.

Are use actually happy with this considering who you could have got instead?

We replaced a gaffer who got us to the SC Semi final and took us on a decent league run when we were battling alongside yourselves with a guy who had never managed a football team in his puff. Who could we have got instead? people seem to think that if we offered the job to some of the names doing the rounds that they'd have automatically accepted it. Take Adams for example, he was maybe interviewed and had demands of his own we couldn't meet and thought 'f**k this I'm out'. We'll never know. McKinnon (if he is indeed going to be our new manager) is maybe the best we could have got. Either way he'll have a full time team and I'd like to think better players at his disposal than Brechin so will just have to see how it pans out.
