I love all those slow cook meats, oxtail beef cheeks etc when you get it correct it is so worth the effort. I started the Ragu yesterday at dinner time and cooked it for 4 or so hours and then left it in the oven with lid off while it cooled then put it on the hob tonight to warm thorough really low for a couple of hours, the bone just slipped out the meat.

I wonder if the beef haugh would be shin of beef?

I asked him for shin and he had none but gave me that instead. Next time I'm in il find out.

Your right about cheeks too tho. I'd forgot about them, and they are probably best of the lot!

Now this was the wife's argument about buying it as she too enjoys that choc/crisp combo and I begrudgingly agree it you are having some chocolate and  pinch a crisp it tastes pretty good but that is chocolate you enjoy and crunchy crisps this was not very good choc with stale crisps stuck in it, rank

Break up a kit-kat and chuck it in a bag of salt and vinegar McCoy’s. You won’t look back.

Shite. And so is their crisps.

I concur, at least on the crisps.  Our local supermarket for some reason had a few bags of them and I decided to sell a kidney and buy a packet.  They were shite.  Worse still I had bigged them up to the wife and son who had never tasted Scottish crisps.

Looks great. Is your gnocchi alla romana i.e. oven cooked?

Nah In water first then pan fried in some garlic butter to get a little crisp on them. I think I could have done with a little bit more flour to firm them up more perhaps allowed the potato to cool completely before shaping,  they were delicious though and a good alternative to mash or pasta ( polenta was knocked back at first suggestion)

al forno is 'oven cooked'

Living in Italy I'm  pretty sure he knows that.

Its the Roman variation of gnocchi he's referring to, alla sorenttina gnocchi would also be baked In oven except in a tomato sauce

Had a Korean chicken burger and an order of Korean fried chicken (tossed in a gochujang sauce) for lunch, from Kimchi Cult, just off Byres Road at Chancellor Street.

Was outstanding. Burger was perfect with a crispy coating and bit of heat from the sauce. Fried chicken was crispy and the sauce was spot on for me. Not too spicy but a nice flavour. Loads of sauce too. £18 (£9 each) so not the cheapest but I enjoyed it.

Kimchi cult was tremendous the only time intrude it.  the guy had just opened as I was moving away from the West end so popped in to try, I had the exact same order as you, sat and listened to the owner about how he got into Korean food and his travels while eating my lunch.

There seemed to be explosion of Korean food places opened since then but none have matched up to his kfc although el perro negro's sauce was close to being as tasty

Made a belter of a stew the other night.

Couple of Beyond Burgers. Cut into chunks and fried in a bit of stock until they caramelise a bit. Then in the air fryer to firm up.

Onion gravy with a load of McEwan's Export in it.

Load of onions, carrots & parsnips. Wee dod of Marmite and some rosemary & thyme

Lobbed it all in the slow cooker for a few hours.

Tremendous.
