I disagree with you on hobs. I’ve got an induction hob, would much rather have a gas hob like I did in a previous house. I just find it’s easier to control the heat on a gas hob.

Agree on fan electric ovens, though.

I used to love being able to light my fag on the gas hob.

I'm nearly 100 days off them now, so it's probably best I've got an induction! :)

You and Mrs @Melanius Mullarkay would get on fine.

Not a great baker but it was freezing yesterday and I had eggs to use up.

Creme patt tasted really good but was a bit too thin to use as a topping. Shortbread was the best I have made, by total fluke.

£4.75. Banchory can take a flying f**k to itself.

Edit : okay actually, I take that back. I was upset due to it coming in a box and looking like it was a Warburton roll with no stability. It was excellent, every component miles better than a run of the mill quick bite place.

£9.25 for a coffee and a roll is steep but it was superb.

Ride coffee house. Very, very decent.

Chinese chicken stir fry type thing

Onions weren't chopped as I chucked them in the mini blender with the garlic and ginger.

Presentation isn't the best to say the least but it's tasty. The 'sauce' is nice and sticky.

Only the white one left as you don't like them as much as the dark ones?

Just lacking a tattie scone. Egg would need to be runny though.

A question. I normally use fresh garlic and ginger but I see you've got the easy stuff. How good is it compared to fresh?

It's pretty good! It comes in a white wine vinegar though so whilst you can fry that off, if you're adding to a sauce then it might impact the flavour more than you want.

I've bought frozen ginger before that was ok. What I normally try to do with ginger is buy a large amount from the Chinese supermarket, blitz it in the food processor, then put it into ice cube trays and freeze it. It's then easy to use a cube at a time, but maybe I should give the easy stuff a try instead.
