I've read the book (120 Days of Sodom). I used to quote bits of it to an Aussie friend and she'd scream and cover her ears. Didn't Passolini get murdered after making the film?

Yes, but according to Wikipedia it wasn't for making the film, but rather because he asked a lad if he could sodomise him with a stick, to which the lad apparently took umbrage;

A Carabinieri squad car stopped a speeding Alfa Romeo near Rome. The driver, Giuseppe (Pino) Pelosi, a 17-year-old hustler, tried to run but was arrested for theft of the car, which was Pasolini's. Two hours later, the director's body was discovered. Pasolini was murdered by being run over several times with his own car, dying on 2 November 1975 on the beach at Ostia. Multiple bones had been broken and his testicles crushed by what appeared to be a metal bar. His body had been partially burned, the autopsy report revealed, by gasoline after the point of death. It has long been considered to have been a mafia-style revenge killing, extremely unlikely for one person to have carried out. Pasolini was buried in Casarsa, in his beloved Friuli. Pelosi confessed: Pasolini had picked him up and they ate a meal at a restaurant the director knew, the Biondo Tevere near St Paul's basilica, where he was known. Pino ate spaghetti with oil and garlic, Pasolini drank a beer. At 11.30 pm they drove towards Ostia, where Pasolini "asked something I did not want" – to sodomise the boy with a wooden stick. Pelosi refused, Pasolini struck; Pelosi ran, picked up two pieces of a table, seized the stick and battered Pasolini to death. As he escaped in the car, he ran over what he thought was a bump in the road. "I killed Pasolini", he told his cellmate, and the police. Pelosi was convicted in 1976, with "unknown others"

Cheers - I listened to a review of his biopic that was out a year or two back but didn't know much more about him that that. I felt like I'd been sodomised by a stick (or even a fence post) the last time I ate at Frankie and Benny's.

Talking of pulling the head off it, has anyone else noticed the improvement in the ads on P&B? I used to always get ones for Muslim Dating but now I get some for women's sportswear. Looks vaguely pornographic should a casual observer see your screen. A company called Fabletics. All their advertising looks like the early pictures in porn shoots when they still have their kit on.

Isnt that Kate Hudsons company?

I worked at a place where one of the lads would bring in VHS tapes he'd bought after he'd finished watching them; why he didn't just rent them, I don't know, but whatever. Nice of him to share. He brought in Salo one day, which none of us had heard of, so he gave us a brief description. Appalled expressions all round in the break room, with a healthy dose of, "why would you want to watch something like that?"

The tape made its way round everyone in the weeks after  :lol:

So Pino, I was wondering, how about I shove a stick up your arse?

"Pino" Pelosi later claimed he was blackmailed by the Mafia into making a false confession, who actually killed him.

Fucking hell. Salo is the most stomach churning movie I think I've ever partially seen. Literally couldn't stomach it for the entire duration. Think that and The Human Centipede are the only movies that've literally sickened me.
