I've been out my house for over 30 hours now, 26 of which has been spent in uni. The other 4 on my mates sofa. I'm fucking knackered. Still this time next week my dissertation will be in and this will be all over.

Beginning to wish you hadn't left it to the last minute yet?

The thing is I actually hadn't, all I have been doing for the last 12 hours is formatting the whole thing so I don't have to do it the week of the hand in. I've written 16k and only have my conclusion to do over the weekend, after I see my supervisor today. So nice try, but I'm not entirely like that at all. :P

That said, I do know folk who are really going to struggle to get theirs done.

Nice one, well done.

I'm quite fortunate, mines is only 12000 words. I was in uni pretty late last night trying to get my findings finished, should hopefully have it all done and dusted by next Tuesday at the latest, giving me a couple of days to proof read before submitting on Thursday.

I know a guy that has still to finish his lit review. F**k that for a laugh.

Whilst not that bad, guy on my course has the same supervisor as myself and has seen him once all term, to make sure his questionnaire was to an acceptable standard and ethically correct. I think he's expecting to turn up 2 days before hand in and get the guy to go through the whole thing. The supervisor is doing that with me today, but then he offered, so I was more than happy to stay up late and get it looking how it should to show I have just about finished.

Ours is a stupid length, there's no real word count and tbh once I've finished writing it all up and adding in the bits that I need to, I reckon it will easily push 20k. Especially once I add the drawings and figures, its going to be about 120 pages long without taking into account my massive contents, reference and appendix. Its going to cost me an absolute fortune to get the 2 hard bound copies, I reckon about £120. I'm not made of money, should have written less I guess.

What really annoyed me was finding out a mate on a different type of course, gets away with a literature review that's only 1800 words, mines is almost 6k for Gods sake!!!

I've no idea how much mine is going to cost, I've transcribed all eight interviews that I carried out, each one being around 10 pages long. That's going to sting me a bit I think!

There's been a few people in my group that have also failed to turn up to meetings, no idea how they're going to get on, especially the guy that had no idea which research approach to go with.

It really is amusing hoe late people leave things. I mean this is a massive part of your degree classification. See I didn't do interviews, it wasn't really the right thing, so had to write up a 20 question survey and then case studies. That said I think if you revised your questionnaire significantly you need to include all the drafts, so that's yet more in the appendix. Which don't could towards the word count at least.

Do you have to get it hard bound? Check with your supervisor just in case - a guy in my year spent a fortune getting it hardbound, despite it specifically saying in the dissertation booklet that comb binding was sufficient. We all laughed at him, and bought him a pint between us at the grad ball.

You don't think I've checked that.

Any possible means to save cash and I'd have been all over it. Mates just offered to print it all off at his work though on proper paper, so that should save me a fortune.

You'd be surprised how many people don't!

Yeah no such luck for us. Our school seems to take great pride in our dissertations, more so than others. Possibly because ours aren't sort of theoretical or political. We've actually got to write about current trends, innovations and advancements in the industry.

Still I'm only going to do one, certainly in recent years.

The company I work for has lowered our 3x12hr shifts (7-7) early or night, to 3x8hr shifts (7-3&3-11). It's fucking horrendous. I hate it. Starting at 3pm, getting home around half 11, wide awake until 2-3am and wakening up at 9am. What a bucket.

Still, it's on full pay.. Every cloud.

So you get 36 hours pay for working 24? Sounds fantastic.

I work two day shifts 7am-7pm, then two night shifts 7pm-7am and then have four days. Except this week when I'm doing overtime Saturday Sunday so am working six days in a row. You get used to it, sleep is over-rated and I have weird hallucination dreams when I sleep now, it's great.

Also, a brilliant SOuth Park is on Comedy Central at 10pm tonight.

Opposition fans following you home, Lithuanian women wanting to throw drinks at you - beginning to notice a pattern...

I'm beginning to notice the pattern as well. Location 1 = Dundee. Location 2 = Dundee.

The only option is to leave Dundee. Fortunately, I finish uni in 3 weeks. Hopefully that won't give United fans/Lithuanian women enough time to track me down.

That last picture of the doctor holding him is properly creepy. The doc looks far to happy about it all.

Got a swollen gland in my throat and can't swallow without a shitload of pain. Can't eat or drink (apart from sips of water). However I've lost half a stone in day which would take at least a week or two at the gym. Not sure it's the healthiest way to go about it though.

Get that checked out NOW matey. Couple of years ago I felt a lump in my throat, long story short I had the lump, thyroid and a dodgy lymph node with a tiny amount of cancer removed. I'm forever thankful that I got it checked out as soon as I noticed and that my GP sent me to a specialist.
