Not at all, I have come into posession of one of the aforesaid items and fancy making stovies, I just want to know if it can be done!!!

Why start a new thread when one already exists!!!

I was kind of getting at myself as that is what I have been doing this afternoon as I am bored senseless.

To answer your question, I have no idea and have no slow cooker but do like stovies so please PM me some if you make them.

Would that not just drag out the torture, or do you want some sent out in an envelope???

Never made them in my SC yet but was going to try them next.

I suppose you would just make them the same as normal.

There was a Stovies thread some time ago and there are lots of different recipes, but here's mine.

Peel and slice potatoes into discs approx half a centimetre thick.

Brown off 8 steak slice sausage, drain on kitcehn paper to absorb excess fat, then cut into pieces about one inch square.

Fry one and a half onions gently until golden in colour.

Get a pint of beef stock. A cube will do ,but fresh made or supermarket pre made is better.

In bottom of SC arrange a layer of potato, then add pepper (no salt as you'll get this from stock)

Then add layer of sausage and onion.

Another layer of potato and season, then another of sausage and so on.

Once all layers are complete, pour in stock and cook on low heat for approx 6 hours.

When ready,if all stock hasnt been absorbed,I would drain some off then mash.

Dont mash too much as I think it best if you still have soime chunks of tattie.

Serve with buttered oat cakes, or buttered plain bead ..brown sauce optional

Enjoy

Can get one out Tesco for £12 odd. Didn't realise they were so cheap.

Thinking about it....

Do it! We use ours all the time. Chuck your ingredients in in the morning before you head out, your dinner's ready when you get home. Couldn't be simpler.

I've got a recipe book for mine, but I've never actually used it. I am tempted to try out porridge in it when it gets a bit colder, but I'm not certain I want to leave it on all night. Daft, considering I'm happy to leave it on all day when I'm not in the house, but there you go.

Sound delicious, i'll give them a try. How many portions did you get out of that?

6 good portions, but the SC I have is quite a large one.

Cut the spuds about 3/4cm thick so they dont absorb too much of the stock and go to mush.

Serve with a slotted spoon as there's quite a bit of liquid left, but you need this for flavour and to stop them burning
