I can't really imagine turning on Friends and thinking "THIS IS AN ABOMINATION"

I still enjoy seeing Jennifer Aniston in tiny skirts and nae bra.

That's entertaining still in 2018.

Although the last time I watched I realised Courtney Cox has a cracking set of tits too

Only Fools is ok but it’s predictable, hit and miss and there are a lot of better sitcoms. imo. Frasier, Blackadder, The Office, Father Ted, Peep Show, The Thick of It, I’m Alan Partridge, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc.

I never really watched Father Ted, but the rest of this is the definitive list of best sitcoms.

Perhaps OFAH just hasn’t aged as well as say Porridge for example.
The episode where Fletch & Blanco set up Norris, digging up Elland Road in the dead of night to snaffle the ‘hidden treasure’ is still superb!!

People just watched a lot of shite in mass in those days.

You can’t determine “good” programmes by the number of folk who watched them.  The majority of people are morons.  If public executions were shown live on TV they would dwarf these figures.

It's similar with music is it not??

To have a no1 back then you were needing to sell £1,000,000 + singles.

These days I think 40 or maybe 50 will do it.

It's all the KLF's fault

.... at a time when Duran Duran spent $1,000,000+ on a #2 video.

You'll remember when you could just turn up and get in.

I suppose it depends on who your friends are.

How on Earth did two episodes of To The Manor Born end up being in the top ten most watched TV programmes of all time?

Those were the ones when Audrey opened up a brothel.
