Up until I was about 14 I was taller and bigger than most so rugby at that age was a doddle. Then I absolutely crumbled my knee's (playing football) and unfortunately then it was discounted fee's only; nae mare free pass. I think we got to the Scottish schools plate final for under 15's and we played at the pitches in St Andrews? I think you can see the old course hotel from there. But I mind being in the scrum (I was a hooker ) and I got punched square in the nose before we engaged. Blood gushing everywhere. We lost in the end which was a bit of a gutter but we were shite and we did well to get to the final. I think we were playing bell baxter. Previous school years were really good at Rugby. I wasn't a world beater and there were far many more players who were better but could also pay the fees outright.
