I'm taking it as read it will be a one year deal like all the others have been. No word on any other confirmed deals but we have our first friendly at Gretna tomorrow night so we should have a better idea then who is really in the plans. They will primarily be playing in the uner-19s but like McDaid, McAfee and Deans may have opportunities within the first team squad. I believe the players in bold type are just training with the first team squad during pre-season, as they are all still registered in the youth set-up. I think there are one or two more as 6 youngsters were chosen before Ramsay was signed and possibly Little. I think the hope is one or two of them will impress enough to get their chance. Moore said he is still on the look out for a goalkeeper, defensive midfielder, left sided cover and striker. The youngsters aren't actually signed yet though they are on "retained registration". It's possible that MacPherson may decide not to keep any of them if he wanted I suppose. I think I'll remove the contract dates on them but leave them in the squad as a compromise until I hear differently. McGowan was borrowed by Gretna, as were two of next year's 19's squad, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything (though I guess if he was in MacPherson's immediate plans he'd have been playing for us). They remain part of the squad for now though. Seven trialists were involved against Gretna tonight which included Ryan McGuffie but not David Weatherston. No idea if Weatherston has departed or was simply carrying a knock or something. It's not like he was the only player missing. Higgins, Simmons, Smith, Degnan, Smillie and O'Hear weren't listed either whilst McGowan played against us. So it may mean nothing. Bob Harris has apparently been training with Blackpool this week. I think we need a hatchet man defensively minded midfielder to complete the squad but its looking encouraging and a very strong squad. I watched the bounce game with Motherwell tonight and we had 4/5 of our under 19 squad out and I was very impressed.
