Savage Henry
What are the books like? I've got them all on my generic e reader, but currently embroiled in the Game of Thrones series. The TV show has piqued my interest in the books. Good ones are great; Sign of Four, Hound, Study in Scarlet; the bad ones are boring. Over the course of the three compilations, there are more good than bad. I tend to prefer the longer stories.
footiechick
I like the books. I like the TV series. I don't view them as linked to one another at all, apart from the character's names.

Musketeer Gripweed
Did you miss me? Now that was a good episode, even though Magnuson was a bit pish given all the hype. Glad they have signed up for another two series.
Broccoli Dog
ACD's holmes spent most of his life in an opium induced stupour between cases. He was as antisocial as you can get. The moffat/gatiss/thompson Holmes vice is tobacco. Less time spent veging in an opium den means more time socialising. uhm sherlock holmes would never be caught dead in an opium den, horrible stuff. now habitual injections of cocaine, that's a different story, keeps the mind from atrophy.
Raith Against The Machine
uhm sherlock holmes would never be caught dead in an opium den, horrible stuff. I don't know if you're being glib and I'm being dense, but Conan Doyle's Holmes is literally caught in an opium den in "The Man with the Twisted Lip". The scene from tonight's episode was almost a direct lift. Really enjoyed tonight's effort, much better than last week.
Mark Connolly
I got hugely lost during all that, will need to watch again. Ending was magnificent though.

Kilbowie's Finest
That was absolutely fantastic - so many twists in one episode - and Jim's back !! Well done to The BBC - they are forgiven ( at least temporarily ) for the shite that is The Voice
Dirty_Arab
Absolutely superb tonight. Back on form, and no doubt will have the last two episodes making more sense on a rewatch.
happysouth
it was good but...the doctor who ending with 'every tv in britain' spoiled it a bit for me.

zidane's child
Yeah fantastic episode last night. Is it a coincidence that Moriarty comes back just as Sherlock is set to leave on the plane?? I'm looking forward to Series 4...Just hope its not another 2 year wait!!

Sherlock holmes most definately did visit opium dens in Conan Doyle's books. Between cases his mind running to quickly was his biggest problem.
Co.Down Hibee
Episode 3 has saved the series IMO, the first 2 were pretty underwhelming especially ep2 which to be perfectly honest I found a bit boring and somewhat pointless, the whole emphasis of this series has been about the relationship between Holmes and Watson and whilst that has had its moments it grew a little tedious about halfway through ep2, To have a good hero you need a good villan and there just wasn't enough of a nemesis for Holmes in the first 2, Magnusson was pretty hateful although it wasn't really made very clear what he was actually trying to do he still made good viewing. The whole Mary thing was somewhat left field but on reflection made a good storyline. A great ending right enough, didn't see it coming at all , next series set up nicely hope they don't just focus on character development and more on storyline and plot with it.
