Big Rangers Administration/Liquidation Thread - All chat here!

The real question should be..Why do certain diddies play down the story as if nobody cares when we have a thread now with more than 2 million views and will probably reach 2,000 pages.

Why are people so set on denying the blatantly obvious. If you want to go back you will find posters in the first few pages shocked this story reached the National news..not just sport section..as far away as Australia. Now they are claiming it is not talked about.

With the exception of expats scattered around the world nobody outside of scotland could give flying f**k whether Rangers ever play another game.

In the grand scheme of things scottish football doesn't even register outside of this country apart from the odd token mention.

Maybe I was wrong. I do remember seeing a live press conference from the White House last week....

You're right - there is a certain contradiction in there.

I'll happily admit to being obsessed by this story, but then again I'm a Scot, living in Scotland who wastes more time and money on football than is strictly healthy.

The stuff about how insignificant the story is abroad though, is simply a reaction to all the 'Global Brand', 'Worldwide Fan Base', 'Institution' crap we get fed.

In a Scottish context, Rangers' troubles are hugely important. In the real world, they're not. That's all.

That "succulent lamb" just keeps on coming.

Green has confirmed he had told a supporters' meeting on Wednesday that he has a list of 19 target players drawn up, five of whom are involved at Euro 2012.

And he says he has added £1.5m to the budget Ally McCoist and the administrators Duff & Phelps had been working to for next season.

Of the money raised so far (£5.5m is lodged with the lawyers Taylor Wessing, as confirmed by Simon Shipperley of Duff and Phelps at the fans' meeting), £2m has come from Singaporean investors, £2m from another major investor, with the remainder split.

Having closed the initial round of funding with £10m raised, Green says he will entertain a second round of investment with a maximum of £4m per investor.

Green also referred to a £10m stadium-naming deal with "an airline investor or alternative".

They are going to wait until the last day of the 21 allowed to register an appeal against the CoS ruling & complain that the case should be heard by the original panel, not the appellate one.

The SPL fixtures are issued on the 18th, & they'll be named in them, whilst this appeal will carry the case on into the new season. So keyboshing any chance of an SFA suspension from the league.

I really do hope the CVA fails, & the SPL/SFL clubs exclude any Newco. Their arrogance knows no bounds & will render competative football in this country completely meaningless.

Interesting that the topic has gone to the overseas view on the night I was chatting on Facebook to a friend in Canada who was at our game at Ibrox last season.

When I asked what he'd seen or read about the Rangers situation in Vancouver, he said "what's happened?". Now that's from someone with a big interest in football and who stated that one of his highlights from his visit to Scotland last year was his trip to see Saints play at Ibrox and who trys to follow the Scottish game.

On the plus side I have stayed in a small town 4 hours inland from Vancouver and all of the Scottish results were in the paper (including Challenge cup first round weekend) but there is little in the way of match reports. In terms of British Columbian press or internet coverage the only thing I have seen was a few posts on the Vancouver Whitecaps facebook page asking if they would be signing any of the Americans from the Glasgow team who were bankrupt!

So much for only signing players on frees.

If I was a creditor I'd e seething at all this boasting about money coming into the club, as I said earlier the chat was about signing Gattusso on a deal worth 12k a week

214 of the 276 people out of pocket are owed 12k or less! If they can afford to dish out contacts like that, they can afford to pay them in full what's owned!

Hopefully the creditors tell them to stick the CVA

Does it matter how many posts or views this particular thread gets as it does not signify people are genuinely interested in the situation other than a lot of those watching the car crash unfold in front of them.

The fact was/is you cannot attract the buyers you need to stave off your clubs downfall. People like Hughie are just going to make a quick buck and flog everything he can before disappearing and you'll be back to square one.

One of the reasons the situation may have captured some coverage is due to the mess the whole thing has become. Do you believe your club will be in safe hands with Green even if he gets the CVA accepted. He has convinced himself he will be the able to just start up a Newco with everything in place while the creditors get next to nothing why would anyone accept that.

Swiss Roll.. FC Basel have finally agreed to accept the Swiss League title.

Having twice refused to accept the crown in the last week, Basel finally recognised themselves as champions on Sunday after a 3-1 win over Lausanne Sport.

Both Basel and the Swiss League agreed on their respective websites that the team were champions for the third time in a row and the sixth in the last nine seasons.

The confusion over whether or not Basel had won the title capped a chaotic season marred by court battles, hooliganism and financial problems which led to Neuchatel Xamax being expelled and Servette Geneva filing for bankruptcy.

Basel took an unassailable 16-point lead over FC Luzern last weekend but would not accept the title because their rivals could theoretically have won two points from a case they had taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

On Saturday, Luzern drew 2-2 with Grasshoppers, meaning they could no longer catch Basel even if they won the CAS case.

However, Basel again refused to celebrate on the grounds that Sion could still catch them should they win an appeal against the Swiss League's decision to deduct 36 points for fielding ineligible players.

The confusion finally ended on Sunday when Basel's win over Lausanne meant they could not be caught even if Sion won back their 36 points.

"Basel are absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, definitively the champions" said the website of 20 Minuten newspaper.

Alexander Frei scored twice taking his tally to 22 for the season and Cameroon forward Jacques Zoua was also on target for FC Basel in stoppage time.

Basel will take part in the qualifying competition for the Champions League next season, Switzerland having lost the right to an automatic place in the group stage.

Try these for size. Searching for Glasgow Rangers on each site.

Obviously not to the depth and quality you would except from Chic or Traynor, but it does exist.

Apologies No8 for agreeing with you. biggrin.gif
