Mark Connolly
Most of those were due to Celtic nearly doing a Sevco back in the days if the biscuit tin. How many teams split the Old Firm when neither of them were suffering financial difficulties? Either way, it's winning the league that matters. How would you quantify "suffering financial difficulties"? Would that just be not having any money to spend? What about the seasons where they spent so much that they f*cked themselves for the future, and thus eventually suffered financial difficulties?

Bloomogganners
It's not used as an excuse to do nothing, I've already stated that we have a scheme implemented to buy as many shares as possible over a period of time. So where is the inaction?. We are doing something but if the current board don't want to sell no one, not the support or anyone else can change anything in this respect. As for stating "a deluded sense of entitlement", that is nonsense, there are many Rangers fans who know exactly where the club is at the moment and don't see any sense of entitlement in being at the top of the game in Scotland, we realise the club has a long road ahead. 40,000 of you chucking in £10 each home game to buy shares at 28p would give you 2.5% of the total company shares each game near enough. Your scheme has 2556 members. Two home games you would have the right to call a General Meeting....................4 home games you could get your own auditors in to check accounts..........................there's the inaction, waiting for Godot. Fotbawmad
It's not when take most of it back out .. over 16 million in the first one to two years while still retaining a substantial shareholding ..... You'd think a 'Ranger's Man' with his incredible wealth would write off that 'chump change' .. eh? Where was he when the club died? Where was he when Murray tried to sell the debt ridden corpse twice before flogging it to Whyte for a quid? Rose tinted glasses are rife amongst the bears .. TBF, he was in the dock, and he's the only former "Rangers man" other than Bomber to publicly condemn Moonbeams. They aren't currently in debt as far as I'm aware, but they have massive outgoings with little or no cash to pay them. And no one in the right mind would lend to them, other than private individuals charging Wonga rates. Who'll no doubt get it all back 1-2 months later out of the season ticket sales.

Wonga and other payday loan co's don't charge anywhere near what Ahmed etc got for their very short term loans.

Thistle_do_nicely
Except you're forgetting that very few people who aren't OF fans care who wins it? Celtic 10-in-a-row means little different to them than Celtic and Rangers winning 5 apiece. Most non-OF fans would prefer a weak Rangers... easier to finish 2nd, more chances to beat them and mock. Not to mention far better chances of winning domestic cup competitions - meeting Rangers used to be little more than a death sentence to aspirations of a good cup run (not always, but most of the time, for most clubs, that was the case) but that's not the case now. It also opens up 2nd place for a number of clubs in the "tier" below where Rangers were - Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Motherwell spring to mind - with the resultant higher prize money and continental qualification. And it's easier for clubs to aim to break into that tier than it ever could have been to split the old firm (Hearts proving to be the exception, rather than the rule, and in fact themselves highlight a worthwhile point in hindsight - overspending was the only chance any clubs stood of splitting the Old Firm themselves, with disastrous results) edit: apologies, just noticed you already said about finishing 2nd. jagfox
Some caller on SuperScareboard was claiming that a lot of the organisations that are buying up the shares of individuals have been started by or at least have, Imran Ahmed connected with them. And we all know wherever Imran goes his little Yorkshire friend is sure to follow...

beermonkey
Fat Sally still playing the Sevco Loyal like a cheap trombone. Yep. The thing is, i reckon most sevconians now know that fat salary is a useless manager & a two faced liar, but they just don't want to admit it cos they've backed him to the hilt so far & he's a 'legend' at the old club. Brilliant entertainment though.
No8.
Andy Mitchell (who?) paid off released. It begins So we are releasing a young promising Norn Iron under 21 fullback who was excellent towards the end of last season and was given MOTM a couple of times and we are keeping Stevie Smith and Ricky Foster. They will both be on many times what the young lad is on. Sorry but this just so typical of the present regime

The mistake was in even signing them in first place. Totally and utterly unnecessary spending.
