Because they deserve better? £1.5 million in the bank (that they can get to) at the end of June- how much have they burnt through since then, and how much have they taken in season ticket sales since? The cash figure at the end of June must include some of the renewals. It would suggest that if they hadn't got the short-term loans which are supposed to be repaid this weekend, they'd have been stony broke.
