What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Shame 4/10 - I watched this after trekking about town all day, but I didn't enjoy it. A slowing moving film about sex addiction. Love an indie flick now and then but this was too slow, and dare I say it, too much shagging! Long winded sequences of waiting for elevators to ping and dull dialogue. I didn't learn much either about sex addiction other than if you suffer from it and are horned up, you may well take a BJ from a man in a sleazy club. The characters were fairly unlikeable too.

Leaving Las Vegas 7/10 - fairly enjoyable flick. Wasn't so keen on the Sting jazzy-theme tune, right era an year though, it sounded like something out of a B porno I used to watch on L!VE TV or the Red Shoe Diaries. Anyhoos, tells the story of an alcoholic scriptwriter who's wife has left him and he decides to move from LA to Vegas to drink himself to death. Some real laugh out loud moments and probably not when it was called for e.g Cage falling through a table pished out of his head or him fannying about in a shopping mall, bank and poker table.

Groundhog Day 6/10 - loved this flick growing up. Hadn't seen it a while and it's maybe not as good as Kingpin from around the mid 90s time, it's still pretty good and light hearted comedy.

Ted - 4.5/10. Disappointing in all truth.

Bourne Identity - 7/10. First time I'd seen it. A good watch at a quick pace with very little messing around. Will be watching the rest over the weekend before this new release comes out so any references are understood.

Oh, and Take Shelter was fantastic.

TDKR - 9/10. Great film although some really obvious plot holes. Allegedly the initial cut of the film was around 3.5 hours , prob cut the stuff that explains the shit thats caused the holes. Good ending to the trilogy that leaves it open for another director to take up heading into the Justice League movie if it happens.

Ted - 4/10. Most of the funny bits already in the trailers. Usually like Seth McFarlanes humour but when he is off a wee bit he can be utter shite and unfunny. Would prob have been a solid 7/10 if I hadnt seen the trailers.

City of God

Sometimes I see a film reviewed on here that goes way over the top, like when comic boy fanboys give the likes of the Avengers and Iron Man 2 10/10 but this film is something special. I have heard about it for years but haven't got around to watching it due to my other halves penchant for wanting to watch shite. Luckily she came down with food poisoning and I got to watch this and all i can say is, this is a must see film. f**k that, you have to see this.

Definitely makes my top twenty of all time.

9.5/10

Edit: better thought I'd give you an idea of what it's about, 2 boys take different paths in Rio De Janerio, one becomes a gangster the other an accidental photographer and not a cap amongst them.

33 Postcards (2011)

A young Chinese orphan arrives in Sydney to meet her sponsor who paid for her to go to school and learn English.

Turns out when she finds him he's in jail for murder, and nothing that he had told her was true.

Really heart-warming little film starring Guy Pearce and Zhu Lin (from Walking the Dead).

8/10

Watched The Prestige again last night. It actually improves with every viewing. Probably my favourite movie of all time.

The only negatives(and it is a really small negative) are Hugh Jackman's and Scarlett Johansson's attempts at accents, which are both pretty dreadful.

The Amazing Spider-Man - 5/10.

Didn't like this at all. Garfield was really good as spiderman but that was about it apart from the fight scenes between him and The Lizard. His scenes with Emma Stone were cringeworthy, I don't know if this is a testament to their acting skills that the awkwardness really came across but it just seemed to me like bad acting. And the shots and scenes didn't blend together well at all. What would you call that? Bad cinematography? I dunno but it was really noticeable.

That's how Peter Parker should be, he's a complete geek/nerd/loser. He shouldn't be able to talk to girls with any sort of confidence until he puts the suit on, then he gets the freedom to be funny etc.

Yeah that's how I second guessed myself. I got that from Garfield definitely but Emma Stone was really poor which is a bit surprising. She was good in The Help.

Get the Gringo (2012) 7.5/10

Enjoyed it a lot more than I expected.

Mel Gibson is a thief on the run who crashes into Mexico, and ends up in a nick that looks like its out of the 'Going loco down in Acapulto' thread.

Not giving too much away but he forms a bond with a 10 year old kid and it goes from there..

It also featured a Ten Years After track I ain't heard since the 70's, which if you are into heavy blues driven rock, is good shit!

Descendents (2008)

I had never seen a Chilean film before... I now know why...

A zombie apocalypse film where a small child has been left to fend for herself, but she is immune to the zombies for some reason which I didn't understand. The human soldiers want to kill her for an unexplained reason, and they catch her and do something to her neck wounds which isn't explained either.

I managed just under an hour of this crap, it was mind-numbingly boring and nothing was explained at all. Plus it had child acting which is never good at the best of times...

1/10 - definitely down there with the worst films I've ever seen. Only Harold & Kumar stop this from being my worst film of 2008.
