What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

He just spouts too much pish pertaining to them

Is correct.

I, er, saw Saw IV for the first time tonight. Usual high standard from the 'franchise'. I like the way they interlink all the different parts of the story from previous films by showing 'what happened next' style flashbacks.

Good stuff again 8/10.

Quantum of Solace - 8/10

I enjoyed it, thought it was a good continuation of Casino Royal and they seem to be building an arc that could possibly last a fair few movies yet as they resolved none of the

Issues regarding the Quantum group infiltrating the services and also Mr White is still out there.

I just wonder if this is a planned thing for the next few movies or if they will resolve it in 10 minutes at some point. I hope the former tbh. The only thing I would say is, before you watch QoS have a look at CR first as there are a few things that are referanced in QoS that are from CR.

Quantum of Solace (2008)

It was almost Bond meets John McClane, shit loads of explosions and fighting. Not many well planned out story lines.

Fun to to watch, but nothing for you to really care about.

Good, but nothing more.

6/10

just back from watching saw v. enjoyed it but probably would have been better if i'd seen the other 4 first  8/10

Probably although it covers quite a lot of the information that you need from the first four in the film anyway and barely mentions the crap second one. The Marmite one, you might say. :)

Went to see Hunger last night, primarily about Bobby Sands and the start of the IRA hunger strikes in 1981.

It was unbelievably powerful, I dunno if I'd say I "enjoyed" it but was certainly moved by it. Several moments were hard to watch but still compelling. It really captured the brutality of the situation, and showed real humanity on both sides without making any real judgements on it. It's a part of history in my lifetime that a lot of people either forget or think doesn't matter these days.

I'd give it a 9/10, not the sort of thing you'd want to watch again but it wasn't meant to be.

In The Land of Women - 6/10

Quite good, nice soundtrack and a decent real life type ending.

Basically about a 26year old writer who breaks up with his actress girlfriend in LA who moves to Michigan to stay with his grandmother for a few weeks, to help care for her and to write a book, He ends up meeting the family next across the road and hangs around a bit with them.

The Game of Their Lives - 5/10

Not bad, nothing stand out-ish and and some classic comic lines in but better than the pish that's on tv on a relaxing sunday evening. Reminded me of a Channel 5, that you can just fall in and out of or the type of film that would be excellent on a flight.

Story of the 1950 US World Cup team who beat England 1-0 in Brazil and how they came together to represent the US.

Wall-E. Excellent in-flight movie where you don't want too much by way of plot or action. Reminded me of Silent Running a lot. Not sure how the kids would feel about it, but it made me laugh out loud several times. 7/10. Excellent.

Goodbye Bafana ( 2007 )

Those of little patience, beware. It's actually a not bad movie where not much of note happens. Just based on the journals of a prison guard to Nelson Mandela, and the friendship that they ended up having. There's also some of your run of the mill "racial tension" scenes into the bargain. It's certainly worth a look for those interested in the subject.

7/10

Jacob's Ladder ( 1990 )

A wee bit on the mental side. A movie which does a fantastic job of keeping you guessing to exactly what's going on untill they decide to throw a delicious curveball for you to chew away at. Tim Robbins is amazing as the Vietnam vet. who is slowly going mad, down to something that happened out there, although they're not sure exactly what happened, and that's what he wants to find out.

8/10

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)

As much as I could appreciate all the qualities of this, and Brad Pitt's brilliant performance (yet again), I just couldn't get into this at all. It was really well made, great acting, well cast, but there was just something missing overall.

Hunger

Nothing really to say about the film, just that watching it made me feel so peckish that I was up and down at the snack bar like a yoyo buying hotdogs and popcorn.

Seems to be extremely highly rates on IMDb for a film that the subject is fairly regional, although it's only had 591 ratings.

Really good internationally, or just in Britain?
