Walking Down The Halbeath Road

Is McPake really the problem though? Strikes me as an outsider it’s a lack of investment in the first team that’s the real issue. Too few signings. Sack McPake and the next guy will just have the same issues. Easy to forget McPake made short work of a league many other managers might struggle to get out of.

McPake isn’t a good manager at this level though. Dundee were really poor in the two seasons they played in this league and that was with some really good players on paper.

Strikes me as a manager who will just do enough with the budget he’s given but won’t over perform beyond that.

Could be a bit of both. Grant and Hughes were very well backed, with Hughes especially getting to sign fucking loads of players. Might be why the board may be more cautious with signings now, plus it probably is a big reason for the club seemingly being so skint.

Mcpake isn't playing players on their best position, many of which he signed or extended contracts on. That's nothing to do with budgets or the board. If he doesn't realise this and change soon, he can f**k off

On the goalie front, I heard we tried to sign a number of goalies over the last few weeks but none would come for one reason or another.

to me that’s a real worry

Didn’t want to be overworked.

I really can’t see how we’re going to be competitive in the championship. We have a manager that’s determined to play 5 at the back, regardless of whether it works or not. He’d rather have 3/4 players out of position, than try to play a shape that actually works.

We also still have too many players that are either injured at least 40% of the season, or not good enough. Couple that with a very small first team squad and we have a lot of issues.

It’s also just so amateurish that we signed that keeper, to avoid not having a keeper on the bench… then didn’t register him in time. Nothing professional about the way our club’s being run right now.

Sack the board! I said it. We've seen a decline since they began to take over and eventually did. What have to we to show for it? A relegation. A league 1 trophy, a reduced squad, zero cup progression and fighting relegation. Oh and a new training pitch and portacabins

You can't 'sack' the board. Someone would need to buy them out.

Is it the entire board or just certain members?

Doesn't matter which way you swing it, we are an absolute mess right now and the football is absolutely horrific to watch.
Squad is a real concern, and even with our limitations we are playing a game that gets the best out of absolutely no one.

Quite worried. Don't much like having to rely on top quality loans but it's looking like needs must.

The board, management, and players have all been poor in their own respective ways. It's just a complete shit show at the moment. Can't see where the wins are going to come from in all honesty. Would we even budget for sacking McPake if we are cast away by Halloween, say? It's really concerning times. The worst of it is you just know Falkirk and Raith are going to rock up to EEP and absolutely pump us.

More just a vent and voicing my frustration at the state of things.

I've been supportive of the plan and the idea they had, but the approach and trying to implement the culture and type of player we want ethos immediatel is clearly hurting the squad and product that the club rely on.

We can't sack the board but we can tell them this mess needs sorting and you can't overhaul a club and retain its status as quickly as they are trying to.

I agree with all of that.
