parsforlife Posted January 26, 2014 Share Posted January 26, 2014 Yeah - that's a fault I have - not buying enough beer to enjoy it properly. When trying a new beer its always a gamble, question is, whats worse to buy a decent amount and not like it or to buy just a couple enjoy it and then having to change what your drinking .? 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~ Posted January 27, 2014 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Had a Newcastle Brown Ale for the first time tonight, nothing special but decent enough 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
philpy Posted January 30, 2014 Share Posted January 30, 2014 According to the owner of my local booze shop, Aldi are in danger of losing the Williams Bros deal, as the guy from the brewery that brokered the deal has been sacked. Hopefully it's just a rumour, a trip to Aldi for shopping just wouldn't be the same without a few Bottles in the trolley! 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
nelsjfc Posted January 30, 2014 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Only just getting into this but has found to my surprise I like stout. Had an Orkney one the other day I really enjoyed. Any recommendations? 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Derek Patterson Posted January 31, 2014 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Only just getting into this but has found to my surprise I like stout. Had an Orkney one the other day I really enjoyed. Any recommendations? Sam Smiths are excellent. Both the Oatmeal Stout and Organic Chocolate Stout are doss though I haven't seen them anywhere in Perth. Ellie's Cellar in Kinnoull Street often has the Double Chocolate Porter by Tryst. A dessert in a bottle! 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
philpy Posted January 31, 2014 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Got this lot from the beerhive on Rodney street in edinburgh. Looking forward the "breakfast stout" in particular but I'm keeping it for tommorow as it's 8.5% and I'm working tommorow. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
lau03143 Posted January 31, 2014 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Just had this: Harvest's Gold by Great Newsome Brewery Quite nice. Malty and not too hoppy at all which is good. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
keyser_soze Posted January 31, 2014 Share Posted January 31, 2014 First post on this thread so apologies if this one has been done - In Aldi at £1.25 (yes £1.25) a bottle, pretty strong stuff at 7.3% but a quality beer, a bit heavy after 2 bottles tho' 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
philpy Posted January 31, 2014 Share Posted January 31, 2014 I may have "killed" a chocolate porter by leaving it in the fridge for too long. How do I rectify this?? 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Oddy Posted February 1, 2014 Share Posted February 1, 2014 If you enjoy a dark ale that's not quite verging on stout try The Hector by An Teallach brewery. Tasty without being too rich. Met the Brewer at a mini event at the Earl of Zetland, Grangemouth Wednesday. Their Crofters Pale ale does what it says on the tin, also! We'll be putting on at least one of his beers at Larbert Beer festival in April. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
