The Moonster
We played well first half with Fleming and Prunty causing problems. Those two and Linton went off and it was all young guys apart from Gils, Scott and Kevin Smith and Falkirk were the better team and probably should have scored more. McKerracher has talent and if he keeps progressing and learning from the players around him I've no doubt he'll move on to bigger things. Fleming looked really sharp but Kevin Smith looked a bit tired/unfit and also took a knock towards the end. It was a good game with plenty excitement. Ref had no choice with the red card as the boy wrestled Gils to the ground after misjudging it. We took our goals well especially Pruntys which was a well hit volley. The pitch is so dry though, pretty much all brown at the moment and we'll be hoping for some rain to sort that out in the next couple of weeks.
Sweet Pete
Good goal from Prunty. Enjoyable first half. Scrappy second half that Falkirk dominated. Missed Prunty and Fleming when they went off at half time. We've unearthed a player in McKerracher. Gilhaney looks sharp.
Jan Vojáček
Was very impressed with the youth players, particularly McKerracher,Lumsden and The number 8. A lot of credit has to go to Lumsden in particular, being a young, inexperienced goalkeeper with a back four who he has never played with in front of him is incredibly difficult, and I thought he was excellent tonight. All in all a good start to the season. We will win the league now aswell imo.
Bring Back Paddy Flannery
Think you might be mistaking Kevin with Scott, Moonster. too many Smiths kicking about the now. More impressed with McKerracher every time I see him. Thought he was excellent in the first half. Fell away a bit towards the end but I think that was more to do with the better players around him being subbed. Big guy in midfield (number 6) also impressed. A monumentous occassion when the Stirlingshire cup was held aloft. One that will live long in the memory.
sons superhero
Agree about Lumsden. With the three subs at half time we seem to sit back and found it hard to pick up the pace again. Kevin Smith looked isolated up front and the lack of height didn't help.
Bring Back Paddy Flannery
Kevin Smith never played tonight. Our 3 subs were Biddulph, Alexander and Beaton.
sonsism
I think Josh Lumsden had a great game for it being his first competitive start. Was unlucky to not save the penalty and apart from a fumble near the end he didn't really put a foot(hand?) wrong all night. McKerracher had a great game as well and the big number 6 controlled the midfield pretty well. What's the script with this season's cup then? Will we need to successfully defend our glorious trophy before the end of August?
sons superhero
Well corrected thought Biddulph was Smith. Thanks. Thought Biddulph looked a bit lost and isolated tonight. Edited July 23, 2013 by sons superhero
ShaggerG
Sons good in first half and were relatively comfortable in possession. Falkirk hardly had a sniff. Fell apart in second and if it wasn't for the woodwork/extreme goalkeeping/goal-line clearances it could have been 5/6 to Falkirk. Decent game at times but seemed to drag on. Incredible scenes at the end though. Dumbarton FC: Pride of Stirlingshire. Why, what happened?
sons superhero
Also though McCallum ( 8 ) played well, with Cook (6) and Linton impressing also. Murray looked happy at the end and looked a bit leaner has he been training by any chance. Edited July 23, 2013 by sons superhero
The Moonster
Kevin Smith never played tonight. Our 3 subs were Biddulph, Alexander and Beaton. Aye? I was sure it was K. Smith and McKerracher up front in the second half.

Totally understandable when your eyes are filling with tears of joy at the prospect at being crowned the kings of Stirlingshire
ThirdrockfromtheSon
We're winning a tea cup, we're winning a tea cup. In all seriousness good game so far from the young guys and a couple of experienced heads. Was Curler and the Grumpy so-and-so there with you? Had to miss it tonight. Working again.
ThirdrockfromtheSon
We played well first half with Fleming and Prunty causing problems. ............... The pitch is so dry though, pretty much all brown at the moment and we'll be hoping for some rain to sort that out in the next couple of weeks. Nothing to worry about. Next few days should turn the pitch green again.....unless the lightning scorches the turf........

Sons Fan
Was Curler and the Grumpy so-and-so there with you? Had to miss it tonight. Working again. Curler was missing but grumpy was there. We'll miss sats game but back for the next. Now the social side is done onto the game. We played well in the first half and as already mention, fell away in the second. Two stand outs were lumsden and kerkerran. Hopefully the pitch will be sorted soon as its pretty bad in areas.

Jan Vojáček
Owen Ronald loan to Berwick now confirmed on the os. Was a strange move re-signing him imo but maybe game time is what he needs, perhaps we will see a different player when he returns.

Bring Back Paddy Flannery
Assisted another and scored a screamer last night #mistakeHardly. We seen enough of him last season to know he's nowhere near ready for this league, and we have far superior wide men in Gilhaney and McDougall. I wouldn't even have given him another deal tbh but Murray must see something there. Hopefully he can get some game time in the far easier 3rd division and come back a better player for it. Everyone's a winner.
