Some fans "go and support their team regardless of who they are playing" but the majority that are attracted to cup finals and semis aren't really hardcore supporters and go along for the occasion and a bit of glory. If their team's playing the old firm these fans are less likely to go because it seems a foregone conclusion that their team'll get beaten and it'll be a shite day. Celtic and Rangers (well... in the past) glory hunters don't really have this problem because their team always seems to win and so they all turn up in their numbers in the expectation it'll be another big colourful party. We have been to 5 in a row now, but for a team out with that, it doesn't usually happen to often. Maybe once every 2 seasons if your lucky. So on terms of this, fans should be coming out to support the team when it does happen. But in our case, because it happens so often, fans prefer to go for European games, or just don't bother getting up from there backside. We could sit and talk about this all day, but we all know that everyone has a glory hunting element in there support, but it just so happens that our club is the worst for it. Our season tickets are a lot dearer than any other teams, other spl teams usually make tickets dearer when we play them away. Also, many of us are going abroad with Celtic. But even then, I'm only an apprentice and able to go to most only missing 3 all season. I doubt you are one of them unless your mother fills out your passport forms for you. You have to presume Hearts and St Mirren have already discussed allocations as if it turns out Hearts don't get as many as they want and loyalty point threshold goes up folks aren't going to be pleased.
