Isn't Cutler on a ridiculous amount of money? Who ever picks him up will probably be giving up an upper round draft pick and giving him a stupid salary

If he's cut, the team who picks him up would offer him a salary. The Bears, would then have to pick up anything lost. For example, say his contract is 15mill a year. If the Rams offer him 7, the Bears would have to stump up the 8. If you trade for him you will have to pay the whole lot unless you can come to an agreement with Cutler himself.

I think.

7yr/$126m with $54m guaranteed. Works out at a cool $18.1m per year. Bears overpaying.

ETA: It isn't even heavily backloaded:

2014: $18.5m

2015: $16.5m

2016: $17m

2017: $16m

2018: $17m

2019: $20m

2020: $21.7m

Titans will have silly cap space next season but I really don't want him.

I would stick with Mett try and trade back with someone desperate for one of the QBs and rebuild that D. Offensively I don't think we're as bad as the stats show and we were severely hampered by injuries on both sides of the ball all season.
