BuddieInDundee
I thought the same, but apparently noon on Pluto is like dusk in Scotland: http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/plutotime/ You'd think it would be more like starlight out there. P.S. I didn't really think they had a flash kit, but wondered how they could get a long exposure travelling past at 30,000 plus mph. Bloody hell that's surprising, always imagined it being pitch black! You'd wonder that yes, not as if they can quickly put the handbrake on and take a few snaps then head off again. I'm sure it's technology that we plebs won't be aware of for decades. All really fascinating, if they could get their finger out and develop some really insane tech to get to different stars that would be golden.

tamthebam
For those wondering what it's like on Pluto, if you're looking for a barren icy wasteland where the sun is hardly seen have you tried Harthill?

On another note, NASA have announced that they're announcing something tomorrow about Mars. Probably some geology stuff that gets the supernerds excited, but is largely shrugworthy overall.
Ludo*1
Rumoured that it's the discovery of flowing water, which you know, basically means, life.

On at 4pm here: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html Hoping for an alien artifact or a fossil, but most likely a rock that indicates the possibility of something maybe in the past, like water. P.S. Think it's due at 4.30, apologies. Something to do with the Space Station on now. Edited September 28, 2015 by welshbairn

Cheers. Anything like an alien artifact/fossil would've been leaked by now. It'll be something having science geeks wanking into boxes of rocks rather than petri dishes imo.

MONKMAN
If they were to confirm the existence of life on Mars, it would be without question the greatest scientific discovery in the history of the human race. It's been backed from 100/1 to 20's on Paddy Power this afternoon, to happen in 2015.
