Ludo*1
So other than discovering that there is mountains on Pluto made of ice and the planet being much duller looking than previously thought, what have we actually learned? I've not really kept up to date with this so only seen the pictures recently and they're very cool, is there anything else I've missed out on or does that sum it up?
D.A.F.C
Whatever way you look at it mankind has managed to image every 'planet' in the solar system within decades. That's no easy undertaking I can't imagine how to begin figuring out how to send a piece of metal from Earth and make sure it's in a certain place in ten years time. Not bad.

We've learned it quicker to send a probe 3 billions miles than it is for Edinburgh to get its tram system up and running

It's the reverse of porn, they always show the popular money shots first. It will take 18 months to download the whole movie.

shiltrum
ImageUploadedByPie&Bovril1436873294.466916.jpg Pretty darn beautiful high resolution picture of Pluto. Can even make out a love heart shape on the surface. Considering it is 7.5 billion km away WHO THE F*** left the lights on so we could get pictures.
welshbairn
Considering it is 7.5 billion km away WHO THE F*** left the lights on so we could get pictures. Good point, and the camera was zipping by at 30,000 mph. Must be dark as fcuk and I doubt they have the technology to swivel the camera so smoothly that the picture isn't all blurry in a long exposure. Another NASA fake filmed in a warehouse like the moon landings. Edited July 19, 2015 by welshbairn

Another NASA fake filmed in a warehouse like the moon landings. Because it was zipping by at a distance, Pluto appears moreorless stationary. Same way you can take photos of the moon from earth, or photos of a distant scene when moving in a car. The first moon landing was definitely faked, though.
