GrahamJags
Not too impressed on first listen, aside from the first three singles, it's pretty poor.
Internet Citizen
Managed to get standing tickets for the Hydro show. Delighted. That Pitchfork review though. Wow. It's almost as much of a hatchet job as their Ed Sheeran review.

It's almost as much of a hatchet job as their Ed Sheeran review. God knows why but they had it in for Arcade Fire for this album. Didn't even review any other single after Creature Comforts.
SweeperDee
Don't know what it is but AF's merch that's been released alongside the album has stole my heart. Already got their Denim jacket, just shelled out more on their white long sleeved jumper.
Miguel Sanchez
I got a free tote bag with it from HMV today. Love that rampant consumerism they're railing against.

Not the tote bag, but with that comment at the end? [emoji23]
Ira Gaines
I'd say 5.6 is a fair enough score.
Gareth_Glasgow
Never understood the appeal of Arcade Fire after buying and absolutely hating Neon Bible. Cringeworthy lyrics, Springsteen-lite vocals and boring melodies. Quite funny to see the critics turning on them now for some reason.
Ira Gaines
Don't think critics are necessarily turning on them. Just their worst album being seen as such.

I don't know who produced it, but some of the tracks are an absolute mess. Everything Now is just all over the place. With even half-decent speakers, it's a splurge of badly timed effects. Could almost be William Orbit. It's as if the band couldn't be arsed kicking it into gear, so the producer was left with a MacBook full of effects and left on his own. I won't darken Pitchfork's doors to read the review, but 5.6 is pretty generous. Edited July 30, 2017 by Savage Henry
SweeperDee
I don't know who produced it, but some of the tracks are an absolute mess. Everything Now is just all over the place. With even half-decent speakers, it's a splurge of badly timed effects. Could almost be William Orbit. It's as if the band couldn't be arsed kicking it into gear, so the producer was left with a MacBook full of effects and left on his own. I won't darken Pitchfork's doors to read the review, but 5.6 is pretty generous. Everywhere I've read hasn't actually knocked the production or mixing of it. Sonically, I'd say it's probably their best sounding album. Now that I'm on my, say, 8162816271th listen, the middle of the album is becoming a bit jarring. The two Infinite content's are just a bit of an obstacle. Win Butler said that they were supposed to be one song but they were split to make a bit more sense for the context of the album, but bleh. Another thing he said is that "Good God Damn" is his favourite track on the album, which I can appreciate; it's got a bit of a "Porno" from Reflektor vibe to it. One thing that's striking is that Reflektor got the same polarised view from fans when it was first released, difference being the critics weren't as polarised as they are with this one. I think it'll be a proper grower though.
SweeperDee
Also "We Don't Deserve Love" is one of the best tunes to be released by anyone for quite a wee while. Beauuuuutiful.
tigerton
I like it. I've saved it as a playlist on my ipod and removed the infinite contents though, which helps. The stretch of songs starting from Electron Blue are phenomenal.
gc_smfc
The album has already grown on me. Reckon Chemistry is my favourite on it.
SweeperDee
The album has already grown on me. Reckon Chemistry is my favourite on it. Better not say that anywhere else. [emoji23] It's getting slated as the worst track on the album. I like it though, really swag about it. The album is a definite grower.
tigerton
Yeah, I'm not having Chemistry at all. Peter Pan grew on me a lot though.
G-MAN
Yeah, I'm not having Chemistry at all. Peter Pan grew on me a lot though. Not having the album at all on first listen.Second listen convinced me they should have just gave up and released it as an instrumental album. But that's down to the producers, it's the overproduction that saves it, when in reality it isn't an Arcade Fire album. The good parts are really good but they are overtaken by some songs that are so laugh out loud shite I'm seriously wondering if I'm missing something. 5/10
ginge123
Gave it a listen on the way to work this morning. Good God Damn is probably the only passable song on it. If it wasn't for the fact that Android Auto messes up the track order when you use the touchscreen to select an album, I'd have turned it off within the first few tracks. 5.6/10 is generous.
SweeperDee
Probably the best interview of Win there is. Zane does a pretty amazing job here, and you get a lot of background to Everything Now and Arcade Fire in general. The last 10 minutes of the interview are a bit of a tear-jerker though; even Win starts crying, which I have to say I've never seen before. There's a strange emotional attachment to the latest album which I don't think there has been with any of their other albums.
mrcat1990
They should probably ditch the emotional attachment to avoid making bad albums in future.
