Because Gibraltar are better than most U21 International sides, and gave Germany a proper fucking scare. Whats the point in taking any risks in a type of match where we're notorious for fucking up?

Gauld will be waned in, as will the rest of the younger players, over the course of the next three years. This is how it works. You don't have a squad of 23 who all vanish at the same time and need replaced.

the same gibralter that finished the tournament with 0 points, 2 goals scored, 56 conceded and bottom of the group, you honestly dont think we could have taken the best 4 from the u21's, played them alongside 7 experienced players and still won the game?

I think we would of won the game yes, but considering Strachan was, virtually, one goal away from taking us to the Play-Offs and folk are screaming for his head, do you think it was worth his time taking any form of a gamble in that type of game? He used it to try different things with the players who'd be playing the rest of the qualifiers and potentially the Play-Off games, thats far more useful than giving Gauld five minutes when we're already leading by five goals.

Think he means the final, meaningless Gibraltar game

We were not 1 goal away from qualifying.  Also looking at the euros as a whole the Russians were rank rotten and squad was oldest there. Yet they would still have roasted us.

Youth being brought in now may not be the answer but it's a question we don't really know the outcome off or will.  But 1 thing we all know is asking the same dross to try again will end in abject failure.

The answer at least has to be at least somewhere between the two , no young players at all for the qualifiers and somehow hoping the many time failures somehow do the business isn't going to happen

Seems like a good idea to go on loan in the same league. As someone said previously they would only loan him to the championship if they were looking to get rid, whereas they obviously want to see if he can do a job for them. Interested to see how he gets on, hopefully see him on BT who have decent coverage of the Portuguese league iirc

He has been loaned for up to a season, with no buyout option for Setubal. The are building him up like they have players like Joao Mario, who is a 40 million target these days, seemingly. Sounds very positive & he will be hopefully in a position to get into Scotland squad again shortly.

Sounds all very well and good but for every Joao Marie they've loaned out how many guys have they loaned out that went on to have average careers?

I'm not getting my hopes up.
