AberdeenBud
And I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the long campaigned for carbon capturing plant is only now being given the go ahead.

It's miraculous. Call a referendum and get billions in investment.

Broccoli Dog
It is not the role of Scotland to save the English from themselves, they consistently vote against their own interests, and reject any even slightly positive change (see regional assemblies or the AV referendum). Burma
We are consistently being told that Oil is too volatile to base an economy on. If this tweet were true then it assumes that the entire UK has based its economy on North Sea Oil. They cant have it both ways.

Todders
Ah good old Duncan Hothersall. A true international socialist (if international means England, Wales, NI and Scotland). That little toad would rather Scotland was dragged down the neo-liberal shitter along with the rest of the UK rather than succeed as in independent nation. He is beyond contempt. JogaBonito
As Larry Elliot the Guardian’s economics editor (a publication that is no friend to the Yes Campaign) wrote: “An entire era [of North Sea oil] can be summed up in three words: discovered, extracted, squandered”. http://www.theguardian.com/business/economics-blog/2012/mar/29/north-sea-oil-revenue-squandered Laughable they anyone would contemplate handing these clowns the Golden Goose for another 40 years. Similar article, also from the Guardian. Some comments from Craig Murray too.
EdgarusQPFC
Once again Cameron seems to half arse his way through a discussion involving Scotland. Part of me genuinely thinks he couldn't give a f**k.

Burma
The most convincing argument yet by Better Together. An "Astonishingly" well put together commentary on the benefits of having Westminster control the Oil and Gas revenues. The Business for Scotland opponent was left in his wake. Are we seeing a potential rising star in the NO campaign? https://www.youtube.com/embed/UaT6Lg6aWpY
AberdeenBud
More volatile and unstable jobs headed for Scotland. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/uk-oil-gas-industry-eyes-39000-new-jobs-1443422
DeeTillEhDeh
1. Estimates vary from 20 years up to 60 depending on who you ask and their agenda. 2. Depends how we use the oil money from now to then. Norway started an oil fund 30 years ago which is now worth $400B, they only use 4% of the interest to put towards their public services. 3. About £40B a year. That is just for North Sea Oil, there is meant to be significant oil discovered off West Coast of Shetland and the Ayrshire coast. Point 2 Norway didn't privatise their state oil company though so not really comparable.
DeeTillEhDeh
I do agree that we need decentralised power in Scotland , and I'd like to see quasi-regional assemblies and stronger local government, but that's something for after the referendum. It's just a shame that there's only one party at Holyrood who seems to support decentralisation though.

DeeTillEhDeh
Eh? 1/3 of Statoil is in private hands It wasn't privatised though - the private part was due to the merger of Statoil with Norsk Hydro. 67% of Statoil is clearly better than 0% of BP. ayrmad
I would very much like Aberdeen to be an Independent state if Scotland votes for Independence, then that way we could keep our resources to ourselves and distance ourselves from the majority of hangers on that bleed this city and have not given much in return. (Harsh I know) We would have to install a new team of people that have the best interests of the city at heart. No political party, only people that have stayed here a while and would like to see the city prosper. The current occupants don't seem to have a clue and I don't hold much hope for the future party. Most politicians are full of bs with the exception of one man that I know cares. By the way his name is not Alex Salmond, although he is from the same party. People of Aberdeen, in the event of a Yes vote, would it be possible for us to seek Independence from the rest of Scotland? Can a law be passed in this case? We could have our own armed forces and local council that listens to the people and we could enforce our own borders. Never mind the law, as an independent state we can make up our own laws to suit us. This should make us the city that we ought to be. As long as the people of Peterhead get afforded the same opportunity.
