Mad Capsule
Does this mean on the PS4 you only need a three kill streak to get the chopper called in now?
Ludo*1
Anyone hear the Glaswegian swearing at the reporter which forced them to curtail the interview?
meanmistermustard
The wee reporter in BBC seemed to be getting stage fright there, not too sure what he said TBH. At the end of his report some guy was swearing in the background, maybe that put him off.
Jim McLean's Ghost
Land a ton of metal into the water? I'd take my chances on the roof. The water reduces the force of the impact and reduces the chance of hurting someone on the ground. Landing on a roof seems unwise.
Hillonearth
Worth pointing out that this is the second time this has happened to the Glasgow polis - in 1990 one hit a block of granny flats in the southside.

djchapsticks
If the crew had control they should have ditched in the water? If they had any control over the landing they'd have tried to ditch it in the Clyde surely? Of course, yeah. It's of course hearsay on my part to suggest it was a controlled landing or how much time the pilot had to react to the circumstances, especially given that Gordon Smart alluded that it was in a spin upon crashing. Point being though is that if it was utterly out of control, it would have barreled straight through the bar...it wouldn't have come to rest on the roof before going through it as some (admittedly probably half scooped) pub goers have said, unless it was a sheer million to one shot. Either way, it's a fucking horrific tragedy that seems to have been minimised by either luck, pilot skill or a combination of both.

Lambie's Pigeon Feed
Seems no one in the pub died, nowhere near as bad as it could've been which is something I guess.

Hillonearth
With the utmost respect. Is it? In as much as it's maybe time to rethink that part of their policing strategy. iceblink
Passed through Central station about 11:30. Needed a piss, so went into the bar. On the way out, saw the breaking news on the telly. People stunned watching at the bar. A bit surreal. Blue lights everywhere to the East when passing over the Clyde on the train. Horrible
Lisa Cuddy
All I can find is that one of the crew was a female officer I think details are sketchy because the police would rather contact families of the crew themselves than have them read it on Twitter. Understandable really.
Fuctifano
Given the (unconfirmed) news that the crew don't seem to have survived it doesn't seem likely (to my completely novice eye) it was there was much control on the landing so don't think they had the option to ditch it in the water and avoid other casualties. Mind you, 50 yards the other side of the water is the Central Mosque. For conspiracy / political reasons probably best they didn't hit that.

statts1976uk
The main rotor would still be generating lift and the pilot would still have been able to use collective to get some degree of control regarding the speed of the fall but if the tail rotor was out then the crew would have had absolutely no directional control at all. He wouldn't have been able to autorotate if the aircraft was spinning and it would have been on the dead zone for autorotation. It would be doubtful whether any usable lift was available if it was spinning.
