Not a fan of a themed quiz and would prefer to stick to The Australian quiz as it's the closest to the old Guardian one. The Australian questions are hardly ever beneficial to us Aussie quizzers. Kincardine suggested that whoever posts the quiz gets to choose which "organ" (chortle) ... it comes from. The only problem with that is those pesky Antipodeans are 10 hours ahead, so their quiz is always first off the blocks. The New Zealand quiz is in the same boat, and again, contains questions that even the most ardent British quizzers would never know. BWV suggested the quizoftheday website ... tried the quiz today and got an 8 so it's definitely easier ... however, I'm a bit worried about the quality of the questions... (one of the answers today is Yom Hanks) ... also, as each day seems to have a theme (which, to be fair, the Guardian used to do), we get no less than 4 "Which city does this band come from?" questions, which is overkill. The Lovatt's one I posted was okay, and it looks a bit more professional. The only problem might be that you have to keep guessing until you get the question right (although it does tell you at the end how many you got right first time). I'd imagine if we did move to a new one (e.g. quizoftheday) .. then the same URL would take you to the latest version of the quiz ... so you'd only have to go searching if you had days to catch up on. We can keep the discussion open for a couple of days to see if there are any more opinions for or against. One of the reasons we were thinking of moving away from the Aussie quiz was that we're not getting any younger, so we should try and get some fresh blood into the quiz.... and I'd imagine having Aussie questions would put some folk off. Few absentees from the top shop to too early to read anything into anything... not sure what to alang1993's name but it will be fixed tomorrow. You may be wondering why there are 13 teams in the SWL, and where BigBo10 is... don't want to point the finger of blame at anyone, so let's just say the culprit's name rhymes with Shiny Mess and leave it there. They can of course come back but we’ll argue like f**k if they’re the same team or not.
