tongue_tied_danny
1. Albania - Simple, and yet slightly terrifying. The kinda flag you'd expect Dracula to fly above his castle (if he wasn't Romanian). http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/aberdeen/albanian-flag-flier-cleared-of-racism-by-sheriff-neighbour-with-jewish-roots-feared-it-was-nazi-emblem-1.60861
tamthebam
I like the old DDR flag- a dirty great Masonic symbol in the middle of it. I have one of these which I bought at a flea market in Frankfurt but the moths have been at it. They only liked the yellow bits though. another old communist one- The Socialist Federation of Yugoslavia. Perhaps not very thought out though, superimposing a red star on a flag that is a third red.. Finland. I like the simplicity of it. Romania- it's a very colourful combination of red, yellow and blue. This is a flag from the 1989 revolution when they cut the communist symbol out the middle of it- they should have kept the hole, that would have been cool. France. Similar to Romania, a pleasing combination of red, white and blue. Unlike the mess that is the Union flag. btw- as Shirley Temple Black has just died, and she was a former US Ambassador, shouldn't Katy be wearing her flag at half mast..... Ivory Coast - Popular at Parkhead for some unknown reason
Bully Wee Villa
Their flag has been designed to be neutral anyway, the red symbolises blood spilled in the fight for freedom, the white for peace and the cedar tree to represent immortality. No, it IS a Christmas tree. The red and white both symbolise Santa.
AMMjag
It's generally a symbol of hatred in many places all over the world, but I like the USA flag. Very cool and colourful. I like Uganda's too as it reminds me of Nando's and generally makes me hungry.
AMMjag
And finally. An honourable mention for the flag of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.. I'd never seen it before, but it looks like it was designed on a Commodore 64. Armenian tetris, IMO.
BigMartyn86
1. British White Ensign 2. Australian White Ensign 3. Zimbabwe 4. Italy 5. Algeria Also a special mention the my "MON THEN!" Flag what I had made and taken to creamfields last year. I'll try and get a picture up when I'm not so tired.
Seymour Skinner
In no particular order: Brazil - the wee globe looking thing is quite cool Lebanon - the Christmas tree makes me happy South Korea - I've always thought it looked like a red and blue speaker, with the black lines to represent the sound. Saudi Arabia - the sword is badass Macedonia - really, really cool

At least Andorra had the good grace to plonk a coat-of-arms in the middle of the tried-and-tested blue yellow red combo.

Cardinal Richelieu
So did Moldova... Very true. I forgot about them. I was in Romania over the summer. Was chatting up this lassie in the pub and for some reason decided to start chatting about Tony Hawk's book, "Playing the Moldovans at Tennis". Decided to sound a bit erudite and talk about Moldova, e.g. their problems with being half Russian and half Romanian, and the wannabe breakaway territory of Transnistria. She listened politely and nodded at the appropriate junctures. I thought it polite to ask where in Romania where she was from. "Oh, I'm not from Romania, I'm from Moldova". My face went redder than the red stripe on their flag.
invergowrie arab
1. The Basque flag is a real beaut and inspired a young Invergowrie Arab to do his P5 EU project on the Basque country for which my Franco loving pig dog of a teacher got me in trouble because it is not a real country. 2. Another good effort form the oppressed peoples of France, mon the Bretons. f**k knows what the wee things in the corner are i think they look like women dancing. 3. Nova Scotia. Should be appropriated by indy Scotland. 4. The celts really do have it going on with the flags , Wales narrowly misses my top 5 but gets an honourable mention too. 5. the second spanish republic. purple is criminally underused in flags. you would have thought once spain had bitten the bullet others would have followed suit but sadly not. Cardinal Richelieu
Flegs Fucking lovely display of the more obscure flags IA. I genuinely love my flags, and these were brilliant. Hadn't seen the last one - love the look of shock and surprise on the face of the castle. And I'd love to know if those stars on each of the triskelion's legs' stars represent some sort of Japanese throwing star from my 90s ninja computer days. Probably not if I'm going to be quite honest about it. And......... A gentleman never tells (unless he scores which definitely didn't happen). Cardinal Richelieu
And I thought bitches loved that flag shit. You'd think they would, but the first enquiry about whether they're flying the red flag this evening earns you a cold snub at best.
Cardinal Richelieu
Mind you, better that than waking up next to big Moldovan lass and finding your arse is like the military flag of japan. She wasn't big. She was a honey.

invergowrie arab
I'm a big fan of the flags too. I like the old school European ones. f**k tricolours !! The French fleur de lis of the bourbon family nearly got in as did the Swedish triple crown. Once you get down to city and state level in europe you get some belters. On phone now so can't post but Munich, Bruges, Berlin, Lisbon, Berne, Amsterdam and Ghent are all brilliant.
