jmothecat
Europe just got a whole lot bigger. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31380742 Australia is to compete at this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Reckon someone on a form somewhere accidentally wrote 'Australia' instead of 'Austria' and realised too late so they just went with it. Guessing this is a financial decision.
Sherrif John Bunnell
What a bloody outrage, I'm taking this all the way to the Prime Minister.

Guessing this is a financial decision. Aye, we'll let them win every year and they'll have to pay to host it. Hopefully Kylie will get her arse out if it's not too wrinkly by now. Zen Archer (Raconteur)
A tenuous link, back in 1974 Olivia Newton John performed for the UK, although born in the UK the family emigrated to Australia.

The Naitch
As a one off, I don't mind this too much.
Bully Wee Villa
I wouldn't mind them having a different guest country every year, maybe a couple of guests. Plus we could all vote for the Central African Republic, eventually.
Zen Archer (Raconteur)
Tactical voting will ensue to make sure we aren't last.

Sooky
What date is it this year? Fun filled night - love it!! 23rd May, with the semi-finals on the Tuesday and Thursday beforehand. Don't really mind Australia competing as it's just a one off(unless they win, then they compete next year) but it would be a bit strange if they did end up winning. Then again, Israel compete and we've had the likes of Morocco enter before.
Sooky
Who decides the uk entry? Guy Freeman, BBC Eurovision executive producer. As well as talking to record labels and using BBC Introducing like last year, people were allowed to formally submit their own songs this year also.

Devastated doesn't begin to cover it.

Quentin Taranbino
I'm equally as gutted as I'm working down in London that weekend with a couple mates. Blowing off Saturday night plans to stay in my hotel and watch Eurovision? I can't see me ever living it down
bullywee
The Aussies probably love Eurovision more than anyone else. Madder than cut snakes so they are.
Eednud
The Aussies probably love Eurovision more than anyone else. Madder than cut snakes so they are. Australia has had a winner before as Johnny Logan was born here and won twice as a singer for Ireland then wrote the winning song another year. Hate to think who will be chosen to represent Australia but there is a petition on the go with 9,000 signatures so far to get TISM to reform. Here's one they did earlier
Zen Archer (Raconteur)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31682196 A punk band made up of musicians with learning disabilities is to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest. The quartet, named PKN, was chosen by Finnish viewers on Saturday and has now been ranked by bookmakers as among the favourites for the contest.
