The Alloa Athletic Thread

Correct Kieren. Smashing game. In the first have Alloa could have had four other goals. The lob over the keeper at 2-2. The two headers just over the bar and the shot from Spence saved by the County keeper.

Second half sat back a wee bit and were hitting on the break. Alloa keeper had several great point blank saves and kept his team in the tie but after the well worked winning goal County resorted to high balls into the box which the keeper in particular dealt with well before Isaac broke and hit the post with a well timed forward run.

Cracking entertaining game of good football all round. Credit to both teams.

Jim McIntyre wasn't impressed.

The seethe from County fans must have been glorious to behold. They already fucking hate Goodwin for a couple of historical non-incidents that caused Derek Adams to go apoplectic.

I saw a County fan claiming that McIntyre shouted "you think you're a fucking hardman?" at Goodwin. 'Head gone' in P&B parlance.

Ah, the Neil Lennon approach:

Sky’s microphones clearly picked up Lennon shouting to Goodwin: “Well done Jim, you think you’re a hardman eh? Ya f******g f***y!”

Good result for Alloa u20s against a full strength Dundee u20s last night winning 3-1

Goals from Lewis Wilson, Scott Hynd and a cracker from Adam Martin

Defence was solid all night as well

Best part of the night was Paul Hartley and staff going tonto in the middle of park after game with the squad must have had them there a good 20 mins after game finished

Don't know if you care but Liam Caddis has just signed for Ardrossan Winton Rovers of the Ayrshire District League, the third tier of Junior football. Two of his brothers currently play there.

Had a feeling for a while that he's lost his love of the game, and this sort of confirms it.

Found his level!

Bit harsh, he was an absolute standout at U20 level (for a while), has numerous MoM awards for games in the Europa League and played a part in some fine results for us in that same competition. Its sad when a young player ends up hating his job due to all the pressures that come with it, and with more support he could've had a fine career.

Looked a decent enough player when we had him on loan. Was shocked to see how bad he was for Alloa.

Caddis clearly wasn't giving his all when he came on loan to Alloa in 2015, something that makes it hard to have much sympathy for him. He did better when he came back last season after being released by St Johnstone - but that's still relative to how shite he was the first time. You can see he has talent but he also looked totally lost at times. He had the heart of a mouse. Perhaps with a lot of work he could do a good job for somebody, but I'm not convinced he is really going to bring enough to justify putting all that work in. It will be interesting to see how he gets on in the juniors.

I think hes been wanting to quit the game since before that first loan spell, tbh. If he'd wanted he couldve joined a senior side but instead hes moved to a club far below his level where both his brothers play.

Far below the level of his football skills perhaps but obviously more than just talent is required. Ultimately I'd suggest he has indeed found his level, I don't think he is equipped to play senior football. We had one of the brothers at Alloa too, another who had the talent to play senior but was unable to put it all together and make a go of it.

Hi guys, congratulations on succeeding where we failed so woefully..

I just thought I'd let you know that Mark Docherty Paneka'd his sudden death penalty and sent the 'keeper flying the wrong way. He had a horrific game, but I thought that might give you a chuckle.

Glad to see Jacko and the long list of ex-Sons doing well, and playing some cracking stuff too according to the radio.
