TheDon99
The thing that stood out the most for me in the documentary last night is probably just how good a player Mark McGhee was. I can only imagine how much seeing him make an arsehole of himself as a manager must have hurt the fans that watched him as a player
Blaze
Although not being a Dons fan, I enjoyed that last night. It was good seeing the Glasgow Arsecheeks getting pumped on a regular basis. Some great action I hadn't seen for years. 4 - 1 win against the dead club was a classic.

Snifter Pee Rot
My brother in law is an Aberdeen fan, just because he grew up in that era and loved watching them.

Glory hunting, pure and simple, although if he has continued supporting them through the Wiggy era then the glory hunting is negated and he becomes a bona fide sheep shagger.

CHOW87
Four Scottish Cup wins in five years is an incredible achievement when you consider that we’ve only won one in the 34 years since.

ScoRoss
Although it's very believable (and almost certainly true), can help but think he would have left a couple of years later anyway. Would have been great to have kept him for the upturn under Calderwood and European run. No left back since him has been close to his standard.
Popular Post DukDukGoose
Emailed the club a week past Thursday to let them know I was doing well and any call to my house would be wasted but would appreciate it if they could call my father. He leads a very active social life but that's obviously been knocked on the head. He's retired and my mum works for the NHS so is out of the house most days. Neil Simpson called him on Friday. Was magic hearing him on the phone afterwards telling me all about it. Sounded just like my kids phoning him on Christmas day to tell him about their presents.
Dunfermline Don
With the league season now having been called it got me thinking, what if something like this had happened in 1980. If that season had been suspended on the 23rd March we would have still had the two games at Parkhead to play and Celtic still had to go to relegation threatened Dundee where they would lose 5-1.

To be fair, it would have seemed like divine intervention when McGhee was in charge.

McGhee was absolutely superb in pretty much every big game we played.....he could hold the ball, win headers, beat players, set up chances, score with both feet. He was almost impossible for defences to knock off the ball and he was the catalyst to damn near every goal that we scored. I was there in the 80's and I must admit I hadn't realised how vital a player McGhee was to that succesful Dons team. Thinking back though, he was never a particularly likeable player...I doubt if any Dons fan had him as 'their favourite player'. I suspect he was always a khqunt. It's just that it didn't come out much in these years....he fine tuned it as a manager.
