I've been wondering if a large part of McInnes getting the dunt is his inability to get the best out of the youths like Bruce, and also Hernandez. I would not be at all surprised if we see Ronnie back here next season. Yep, I was half expecting Anderson to be recalled from Hamilton once McInnes left.

To be fair to McInnes on this 1, Hernandez looked lost on the brief appearances he made.

DrewDon
Glass saying he wants us to play fast, exciting, attractive football. Obviously hasn't been reading this thread - that is impossible, simply cannot be achieved.

I don't think any new manager is likely to make his first announcement to the fans saying that he wants his team to play slow, dull, unattractive football. OK, maybe Mark McGhee. He would also throw in a bit about being devastated not be Celtic manager at the same time. Edited March 24, 2021 by Bob Mahelp

Never all that convinced how itk he is but there you go anyway. I don't think Taylor has been all that bad this season really but surely can't be hard to replace? (I hope) Taylor gets a hard time, but in all honesty he's been one of our better players in this nightmare of a season. He's been far more consistent than he was in his first spell.

Glass managed the second side for less than a handful of games before taking over the first team for the rest of the season. Good to know the key criteria for managing in the Scottish Premiership is having been a previous guest on Sportsound.

DukDukGoose
Should have posted this in here rather than the manager thread populated by Bams. New interview with Dave up. Whilst I do think he makes empty promises all the time I'd be lying if I said I didn't go from underwhelmed to a bit excited.

Of course, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I don't accept that it has to be a binary choice between playing decent football and winning games - and, while just words at the moment, I think both Glass and Cormack understand this. McInnes was an arch-pragmatist, which was probably his biggest strength and his biggest weakness simultaneously at points. I don't know how this change is going to work out - nobody does. But I hope that Glass, with the right support and given a fair amount of time to impart his style on things, will make me and others a bit more positive about watching us again.

Considering how underwhelmed most of our fans seem to be over the appointment of Glass then Cormack has little option but to promise things to get fans onside

Yes I do remember that actually, can't remember the posters name though. In his defence, history is littered with team's who over achieve by being stuffy and hard to beat and teams that focus on playing the 'right' way and sacrifice consistency of results to ever compete for anything because they normally can't defend. That's not to say we need to prioritise being horrible to watch in the pursuit of results. We all want to see a winning team playing the best football possible but for me it's a sliding scale and I'm not one who would want us to be stubborn with our 'principles' if it means limited footballers putting us in trouble by fannying around with it at the back, for example. We'll see what he brings, at the moment it's all talk as we don't have much to go on in terms of track record. He could be absolutely brilliant.

I think McInnes would argue that if we attacked a lot more in every spfl game then we'd concede first far more often and in our league that normally means dropping points. It'll be interesting to see how it goes. I think an important point to remember is its about being better than our opponents and then you earn the right to be attacking. If we are not one of the best teams in the country and turn up next season in all out attack mode it won't go well.
