Aberdeen inherited the Hot Potato on the opening weekend but dispatched it to Kilmarnock in midweek. By the second weekend the Potato had made its way to a third team after Killie beat Ross County. County kept the R against their name until the last week in September when they finally recorded a win, against Dundee.

Dundee held on to the HP for almost a month before beating Motherwell. Well lost a few games before beating then-league leaders Dundee Utd, leaving them with the Hot Potato for two weeks, until they actually got to play a game. It was then promptly sent to Kilmarnock for a second time, this time much longer than the original 3-day spell at Rugby Park. Killie held the Potato for over a month before beating Hamilton on the Christmas weekend. Hamilton beat Motherwell on New Year's Day- and Well, yet to record a point in 2015, are the current holders.

In the Championship Alloa and Livingston have each had it for a total of about 6 weeks (across two spells each.)

Airdrie got of to a shocking start in League 1, they had it for the first two months of the season. More recently Stirling had it from late November until the first game of 2015.

In L2, Clyde had it for a 7 week spell from late August to mid-October.

So far this season, 26 of the 42 teams have had the HP, of which only five have had it twice- Killie, Motherwell, Alloa, Livingston and Elgin.
