Even worse are people who get obscenely pedantic and dont understand people can mention "last man" and have a full understanding of the rules at the same time.

There clearly are mental folk who don't understand the rules, but not everyone who uses that term is a thicko

Football clubs should be forced to run education courses where people have to prove that they understand three things before they are allowed to buy a season ticket.

1) Rules for a red card around clear goal-scoring opportunity.

2) The handball rule. Astonishingly abused by fans, media, ex-pros etc.

3) That football is a contact sport. Anyone justifying the award of a foul because "There was contact" should immediately be shot in the arm and left to bleed to death as a warning to others.

If people don't understand these things, they have no business watching the fitba. Sportsound's 'expert' pundits seem utterly clueless in these areas too.

Had the Sportsound commentary on for only a short time yesterday. Long enough to hear Pat Bonner refer to  the Motherwell striker as Curtis Strange.   To be fair he did correct himself straight away.

He was still calling the Livingston manager 'Hopkins' throughout as well. How thick do you have to be to keep doing something like that when you hear folk around you saying the correct name? And why didn't anyone correct him?

Obviously nae enough room in his brain for more than one non-Celtic Curtis.

And Strange was there first.

McIntryre being a total c**t tonight.

Treatment of Michael Stewart out of order.

Stewart deserves it. He’s an arrogant condescending p***k at the best of times. Always correcting his peers for no reason other than just to make him feel superior.

He could do with a bit of abuse.

He ends up always correcting his peers because they're so often wrong.

Ah tell you what, at least they’re enthusiastic tho, Richard.

I noticed Sutton's 'I'll tell you what' right at the start of Saturday's coverage and, I'll tell you what, it got on my wick.  I just couldn't ignore it.  I'll tell you what, someone has to have a word with him.

Maybe Derek Ferguson could help.

I haven’t listened to the Sportsound podcast yet as on a Tuesday morning I opt for Radio 5’s Monday Night Club, which is usually a better listen. With Mark Chapman, Chris Sutton and Rory Smith it should have been a decent program but was ruined by constant bleating from Ian Wright.

Despite the fact it’s less than 10 days since Arsene Wenger’s last game and Arsenal look set to appoint a new manager, Ian Wright thinks they have been dragging their feet over it. He obviously hasn’t seen how long Rangers or the SFA can drag out an appointment.

He also claimed that, by going through a standard interview process, they had strung Mikel Arteta along and only considered Patrick Veira because he was black (isn’t that what some idiots have been campaigning for?).

However, his main complaint seemed to be that, only due to stories by the media, he’d had time to get his head around Mikel Arteta as the next manager only to be shocked by the news that Unai Emery was to be appointed. He seemed to blame Arsenal for doing, by current standards, a fairly decent job of keeping the search for a new manager private.
