I believe its the widely reported, by numerous different journalists, £250k. Which was his widely reported, by numerous different journalists, release clause.

So that would be AT LEAST £250k

Sorry chief, your having a bit of a mare here, the release clause was 250k, the amount he was sold for is Undisclosed. Therefore he would of been sold for at least £250k

You think Oxford, knowing he has a £250k clause which they have to match to be able to speak to him, would pay a higher amount? Why?

Not that you or I know, but there may of been more than 1 offer.

And? A bidding war can't take place when such a clause exists, as even if one club offers £1m and the other offers £250k both clubs get to speak to the player, so its up to him where he goes.

Please though, continue.

There will be a bidding war. Whichever offers the player most cash.

Carry on.

Yes, but not in terms of a transfer fee, which is the point here.

Genuine question. What if a club rocks up and says they want to speak to Hemmings, Dundee say how much and they say £1m. Dundee say talk away.

Hemmings agent then reveals the clause for less than that. Do they get to drop the offer?

You think a buyer would talk to Dundee before Hemmings agent?

The point here is you can't prove that it was £250k

Everyone except Deeboy is saying thats the figure, I'm happy to believe thats the figure. If you need to delude yourself its more, then you can do that.

Yes. Otherwise they'd be in breach of contract surely?

I know it happens in football, but to allege that Oxford did it is unfounded and speculative.

Isn't that tapping up if they do?

Its fairly clear they did. In the same way Aberdeen talked to Tanseys agent and were able to match his release clause to the exact number.

It happens all the time, all over the world, to think its not happened here is naive. If its true Hemmings wanted a move south to be closer to family or that he's likely told his agent, whos spread the release clause about and Oxford have matched. Its utter shitehawk behaviour which should be punished, but its impossible to prove.
