That looks like a relly poor result, if they played their regular starting eleven from the Lowland Legue.

The result against Harthill was not good. No disrespect to their hosts but that is a game the students should have won. Edinburgh Uni have a lot of tough games early in the season and any points will be a bonus. The fixtures become a bit kinder around the time that the students return and there are trials for new students in mid September. Look for the Uni to start to pick up points in the Autumn.

Bo'ness will be relieved to leave East Peffermill with three points. The start was delayed by 30 minutes because water was bubbling up from the sprinkler system in two places. Bo'ness edged an even first half 1-0 thanks to some great goalkeeping by Dibaga. The University took a 2-1 lead in the second half only to lose an equaliser through a goalkeeping error. Two further goals for Bo'ness eased them home.

Never looked like a "top v bottom" match and there were many signs of progress for the University. The new management and coaching team's influence is already evident.

EASY, EASY, EASY ..........LOL

Truth be told we were very fortunate to leave East Peffermill with the 3 points.  Big Musa Dibaga was outstanding and the difference between the teams today.

Fair play - that sums it up. Your keeper was excellent.

I also played football in college. He did everything to break into the professional league. Skipped classes, found information about the proposal, used  https://papersowl.com/examples/proposal/ for this. But then the injury happened. I did not expect such a future for myself. That's why I want to say "take care of yourself".

I totally agree

Edinburgh University were a totally different side form the one that ran Bo'ness close. However, that should not detract from a Cowdenbeath side that were sharp enough to capitalise on the Uni's defensive mistakes, of which there were many. Also, their last goal was a thing of beauty. The next game is in three days' time at home to Berwick. If it is last week's University side that turns up it will be a cracking game. If it's today's side ...

That Maskrey looked decent last season. Almost non existent today though!

The Uni cast off any lingering hangover from the drubbing at Cowdenbeath and scored in 28 seconds. They then held their own in an evenly-contested first half. Berwick came out stronger in the second half but the Uni retained their lead until they conceded a penalty and a red card. After that, Berwick turned the screw and got another two well-deserved goals. Still like an episode of "Pointless" for the University - better in defence but don't yet have the confidence to hold on to a lead. Another difficult weekend away to Linlithgow but the fresh blood will be arriving at the Uni in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed.

They could and should have won. Played pretty well.

Agreed. The Uni started well and gave Rose little room to play. Then when they were 1-0 up the Uni went to sleep for ten minutes and allowed Rose to go 2-1 up despite their keeper getting a red card. Uni woke up and got an equaliser. How they didn't get a chance to win from the spot is down to another interesting interpretation of the handball rule. However, other good results at the lower end of the table mean that EU go bottom for the first time this season.

A narrow loss to a very competent Dunbar United team. The game was typical of the Uni this season - could have won it maybe even should have won it but they can't close games out. Signs of progress and the build-up work for the second goal was a thing of beauty. Big games against Caledonian Braves and Gretna 2008. Uni need to start picking up points from these games or it will be looking grim.

Not for the first time, the Uni played with speed and spirit and were ahead twice against a strong Cumbernauld Colts team but they don't know how to close down a game and get a result. The Uni are playing so much better than last season but are not getting the rewards. Colts are not the first team to come away from East Peffermill with a sense of relief but Uni need to convert effort into results. All they need is to tighten up and stop ball watching in defence. It was great to see a number of former players at the match today and they saw a spirited Uni display but no points.

There have been a number of games when the result has not reflected the performance of the University team. They have suffered narrow defeats when it would not have been unreasonable for them to get at least one point. Tonight against a strong Gala Fairydean Rovers team was not one of them. The University lost unnecessary goals early in each half and then it went downhill. The new management team has brought many improvements but the weakness remains a lack of cohesion in defence. Saturday at home to Gretna 2008 is now a make-or-break match.

I couldn’t get down to Tranent last night as my daughter’s training didn’t finish in time, but as she was at Peffermill we managed to get a couple of hundred yards along the road to make this game in time.

I thought Edinburgh Uni were very decent first half, for stretches in that half you would be hard pressed to work out the gulf in the sides.  Heads went down second half, some crunching tackles going in, Gala are quite, err, streetwise would be the kindest way to describe some of the challenges, although they are a decent football team for all that.

It got very cold, I had a very nice pie and there was some good cake selection to be had as well. 😀

Did a head count, reckon crowd was about 80.
