Erm yes, unfortunately for gibbering fools like yourself though, the non-Labour voters within the population actually judge a party's stance by, erm, their actions, rather than their mealy-mouthed, attention-seeking manifesto claims. And the evidence with Labour on nuclear weapons is damning. The party that set up the UK's nuclear weapons program. The party that has been in government for a large amount of the successive six decades, and has acquiesced in every aspect of the UK's nuclear weapons policy. Including 13 years in power, not too long ago, in which Labour did absolutely nothing about the removal of nuclear weapons, either from the Clyde, or from the UK in general.

Josef Fritzl has a better record as family patriarch than the Labour Party have on nuclear weapons. You're a busted flush.

Irrelevant. They went into an election proposing disarmament, therefore clearly haven't always supported nuclear weapons.

No Labour government has supported disarmament, the party leadership has in the past. No reason why that wing of the party won't end up in leadership positions again, though as with last time I doubt they would manage to get anywhere near government. You can say a lot of things about Michael Foot but you would struggle to pretend his support for CND was 'mealy mouthed attention seeking'. He was advised by basically everyone with sense that his stance on nuclear weapons harmed the party but he was so passionate about it he went ahead and fought the election on the basis of disarmament.

Jmothecat has rapidly gone from lecturing us about how Labour are a broad church which tolerates internal dissent on policy to boasting about how Foot and the anti-nuclear "loony left" were "purged" from the party.

You couldn't make it up.

When did I say anyone has been 'purged' from the party? Michael Foot died, didn't get purged, he's still popular amongst a lot in the party and the loony left definitely exist, as can be seen by the likes of Katy Clark and Neil Findlay and all their supporters during the leadership election.

Apologies. I incorrectly attributed that quote to you when you didn't actually say it.

so, just to be clear, it's a "loony left" position to call for the removal of Trident from Faslane, to scrap it, and to spend the billions of pounds that would save on more worthwhile (NHS, transport, education, childcare) projects?

a Yes or No will suffice.

Quite a few right wingers are incredibly comfortable with high tax and high spend, so long as none of the cash finds it's way to helping normal people.

Would you be able to explain why after 50 yrs of Labour control in Glasgow and total dominance in Scotland , westminster representation; why parts of our biggest city have some of the highest poverty rates and lowest life exp in Western world?? Are these not areas traditionally represented by the labour party.

Despite this people like Margaret Curran grow richer each day

That's because people who vote for what they perceive as left wing. Tend to do so, because they want some kind of government hand out, or are reliant on government monopoly force.

Because Labour have no interest in improving the lives of the poor as they need people to be poor to carry on providing voting fodder.
