Sergeant Wilson
Rooney moved away from the ball. Therefore not offside. It was close, the draught of the ball passing him moved his shorts.

Ira Gaines
That's indecision on the keepers part then. Caused by Rooney being in an offside position. Hence interfering with play.
RandomGuy.
The replay showed that it was a good distance away from brushing Rooney's shorts. It was poor judgement that let the goalie down there. That's indecision on the keepers part then. Its entirely unsurprising its you two who are completely failing to grasp something so simple

Imagine you were that GK there and Rooney was standing 2 yards infront of you and the ball was heading straight at him you wouldn't be able to dive until after it had hit him or went past him. Rooney isn't there the keeper easily gets that.

Ira Gaines
Keeper needs to make decision. Keeper makes wrong decision. Goal. Assistant also needs to make decision. Assistant also makes wrong decision. Goal. The ball was right in front of Rooney. Keeper was within his rights to think he could touch the ball. Ira Gaines
Given the speed of the shot taken, he had enough time to think about Rooney in front as well, who was in the ball's path before he stepped away. At the last second. The indecision was caused by Rooney being in the path of the ball. This isn't rocket science.

Waldo Ponce
Either that or he spotted a tasty looking Granny in the crowd ... Some cutting edge bantz there. Ashley Young turned the game for United and has been really good this season. What about Falcao though? Every bit as brutal as Van Persie has been im not sure if they are both finished or if the way the team sets up doesn't suit them.
RandomGuy.
He and the ref will argue that his movement was away from the ball therefore he had no impact on the keepers action. His movement distracts the goalkeeper, the rules state thats enough for him to be considered offside, its not debateable. No, he should worry about the player with the ball in the penalty area looking to take a shot. He's a keeper, it's not his job to worry about or mark Rooney. See above, theres no chance you can argue Rooney didn't distract the goalkeeper, regardless of whether the keeper should save it or not, Rooney was offside going by the rules.
