Lockerbie - 26 years on

26 years ago today.

The flight path of PA103 had it flying over Scotland's biggest city just about 7 minutes or so after Lockerbie.

To establish the flight Path across the UK, I return to the conversation with ATC Brown:

A It was a low level airway from London Heathrow going through a reporting point called

Trent, which is TNT.

Q And then, "upper alfa 2 Pole Hill UB for [156] Margo direct Glasgow."

A That's the route that the aircraft would continue to take. After Trent, it would proceed via Upper Humber 2, via Pole Hill, upper Bravo 4 to Margo, flight direct from Margo to Glasgow, and then follows the upper air route 590 to 59 north and 10 west.

Sorry if there’s already a thread on this but the recent arrest of the “bomb maker” throws up all the incredible stories about this. 
 

US secret service scouring the crash site for a suitcase full of drugs. CIA agents and their families getting off the flight. South African politicians cancelling their tickets at the last minute. News stories vanishing. CIA drugs and arms dealings with terrorists. 
 

With all the crackpot enthusiasts out there it surprises me that this real life cover up/colossal f**k up doesn’t get more attention.

Despite the number of US nationals who died, it didn't happen on US soil, so the number of fucks given by the average nutcase is significantly lower

This is the gist of it and probably a big part of the reason the Scottish govt didn’t make much effort to keep “the bomber” locked up.

I don't think the 21st Dec 1988 was 26 years ago  

Two things happened that night. I'd gone out so set the video to record Dirty Harry and ended up with half a movie and a load of newsflashes. 

Second thing was when I got home, I discovered my mother had found a couple of porn mags I'd had hidden in my room.

I remember this well.  I was at my sisters's place in Yorkshire, getting ready to spend Christmas with her and her family.

That evening, the news began to come through on the TV.  And in the days afterward, the descriptions. The body of a baby, or young boy hanging across railings in a Lockerbie street, that lay there for days pending forensic examination.  Houses, families... vapourised.

At the time, my main hobby was flying gliders.  Nine months after Lockerbie, one of my gliding instructors, a man called Tony Norrie, was killed when UTA Flight 772 was blown up over the Sahara desert.

Not really a joking matter for me, Sergeant W.....  it all seemed a horrible way to go. A long way from dying peacefully, surrounded by your family.

 

This second guy does look rather like another patsy being set up.

Libya got the blame but it looked like Iran could have been involved, revenge for the US navy shooting down an Iranian civilian airliner 6 months before. No mention of the Saudis I believe.

As with many other “cover-ups/conspiracies” the biggest problem is getting me to believe they’d be capable of covering it up. One you get more than a couple of people involved in anything, someone sings…someone has to tell someone something to prove they are in the know, to show them they are important, etc. when this happens, these coverups are untenable, see the Manning video release, for instance…Iran-Contra…etc.

If the CIA/KGB/FAB/MI5 or 6/Mossad/etc were all so all powerful and capable that they could do this shit, they can’t also be so incompetent that they let this shit be discovered. It’s just a predecessor of the QAnon shite.
